Question:
According to Fox News the majority of Americans think Trump should be impeached. Will Republicans commit political suicide by acquitting him?

A Fox News poll released Sunday morning found a majority of Americans, 54 percent, said President Donald Trump should be impeached.

I hope the Senate conducts a sham trial and acquits Trump. It will guarantee their demise.

They actually said impeached and removed. Trump and Fox's claims he is rising in polls is of course nonsense.

This should be very troubling for Republicans, especially those in the Senate right now.  I can see their exodus from politics accelerating.

Polls aren't very meaningful.  The 2016 election should have taught you that.

I don't believe any polls can be accurate anymore,  no matter which propaganda station does it. I'm sure I can't be the only one who is disgusted by the Democrats to the point of no longer voting for them. Trump will get another term.

Honestly, We have hit a new low in the dysfunction of politics. You dont know what the silent majority thinks, they have all disconnected from radio internet and scam calls. This is just nuts that the left really thought they could get out a legally elected representative "Trump"

Acquittal  is part of the impeachment process . See Bill Clinton for reference

Suck it up . Even if Trump is impeached , he is going to be acquitted . All part of the standard process .

That is the strategy that Democrats appear to be taking. They will be able to say "Look, we uncovered this behavior, and we did what we can do by impeaching him - the Republicans in the Senate supported this corrupt administration".

National polls are meaningless. Simply put, there are more Republican Senators that are going to vote for exoneration. It is that simple.

Trump will not be exonerated. The Senate cannot do that. Exoneration refers to a court order that discharges a person from liability. In criminal context the term exonerate refers to a state where a person convicted of a crime is later proved to be innocent.

Trump could face charges after he leaves office. The Senate will only decide if he will be forced out of office. They cannot exonerate him.

Most of the other 46% percent would want Trump impeached if they weren't so brainwashed by Republican propaganda.

No Republican would tolerate a Democratic president engaging in the behavior that Trump has engaged in.  They would be screaming and yelling for impeachment, conviction and removal from office.  Republicans are the biggest hypocrites on the planet.Nevertheless, although Republicans have a solid base of bigots and racists, it's not large enough to get him reelected. Covering for his actions may cost some Republicans their elections.
