Lets start by keeping biased politics out of the answer. The truth is that time will tell and its far too early to judge the outcome of his policies. As a reference point, Ronald Reagan, now considered to be one of the best Presidents in modern history, started his Presidency much like Trump. At a time that America was floundering, the economy in ruins, loan rates at 20%+, gas shortages, the military depleted and America with little respect for us in the world including hostages held in Iran. Reagan began with bold highly controversial policies, and they took a while to start working, but finally towards the end of the 2nd year the economy started to boom and the rest was history, from the Berlin Wall falling under his pressure to take it down, to inflation coming under control, to GDP numbers that make todays look sad.
The bottom line was that it wasnt until we had several years past his administration before we began to realize how much Reagan changed America for the good.
Fast forward to today, unlike Reagan....Trump is very course with his words....but...perhaps he is the right man at the right moment.....time will tell. Many believe that we need a tough business person to take control of Washington which has been out of control for a very long time. While the rich did well under Obama, the poor and elderly suffered with the economic policies. GDP growth is the lowest ever for a President after a recession, with GDP never getting above 2% and many quarters less than 2% gdp. That affects everyone. Meantime Government has gotten bigger and richer. One of the most affluent zip codes is Virginia where Gov workers live...and Washington as some of the most expensive real estate in the country.
So lets all just take a deep breath and see what happens. The proof as they say is in the pudding!
