BA nailed it. Great perception.

Intelligence of Indians, taken on an average, is on the lowermost part of the scale in terms of whole world.

No doubt there is a large chunk amongst indians whose IQ is exceptionally higher than even the highest individual non indian IQs but average spoils the game. Some Indians have exceptional brains but those indians are also an exception.

Indians, as a combined group, because of their low intelligence are unable to take determinant decisions whenever and wheresoever needed. Lack of cognitive content is the key factor which impedes advancement.

Then because of their braindeadness they blame the very politicians elected by them for all their problems. funny.

India got independence from the British in 1947. Then she became a republic. But the unfortunate situation was that among illiteracy there were no leader with political will power to implement reforms with out any bias. There was a big vacuum in political arena when Gandhi was removed by assassination. Then there was no proper planning with a futuristic view. Corruption, nepotism and power craze became the qualities in politics. Though there were efficient prime ministers and some ministers they were not able to do any good to the extent that was needed. The ambition of the people to be rich overnight led to many worse fall. The loss of conscience in the citizen was the main reason. To be a leader, to be a ruling party, to be a rich industrialist, to be an officer at the top, to be someone in the society people did what all no sensible human being will do with a human - brotherhood feeling. The exploitation in every walk of life, in every sphere of life and in every place of life has kept poverty as a symbol of this unfortunate country. Not only this, the caste system, the religious feelings, divided society with respect to caste and creed etc. keeps the flame still burning. The exploitation of the poor, the carrot and horse policy with respect to the dalits, the so called reforms which aims not development but only election are some more added fuel. The dream of becoming a super power will remain only a dream and will not materialize in the near future, at least for another century. The thinking is " keep them poor, keep them in wants and get and be in power". What then can make India rich? How? If and only if every citizen understands the basic reality around him that which keeps his life so, no change is possible.

These are a few things responsible for poverty in our country:-

1. I'll start with the history of Bharat (not India). About 5 to 6 thousand years ago our early Indus valley civilization begin to flourish. The cities developed by them can put even many present day western cities to shame. It's because whith very less resources they developed such a developed cities that it seems impossible. Then afterwards the civilization begn to flourish. Latter the civilization begin to spread and the Vedic civilization begun. Many things were invented during that time by us like Yoga, Ayurveda, Mathematica, Sciences, Literature, Arts. But it was all over with the arrival of the two cults to India. They mixed up with the natives and our blood got impure and we were enslaved. That's the main reason for India's underdevelopment.

2. Second thing is the alien language which is treated as national language.

3. Attitude of Indian people. Those people who can't even protest against the injustice towards Bhopal gas victimes can never become developed.

Ow! That was a tough question to understand. If you are talking about whether there is humanity or human rights in India, absouletely. India not only has the judiciary and executive implementing laws to benefit Indian society, there are also Not-For-Profit organizations that suport the Govt to reach out at grassroots level. If 'Big Boss' refers to the US, well, 40% of US work is handled in India(Global Outsourcing), the GDP is growing at 8-10% (as compared to 4.4% growth rate of US) and US has an excellent trade relationship with India too. US and India do not interfere with each other's policies. If you think India is run because of astrology, honey, please do not make general assumptions, its like saying praying would cure diseases! No, astrology in India is a matter of faith, it is educated individuals who run the country. Astrology is like choosing your clothes, different people have different choices. But, jobs and policies are not based on that! Finally, India is poor. But its also doing a lot to eradicate poverty. And it does believe in not hurting others, India got its freedom only 50 or so years ago. It does not believe in taking loyalties based on religion or caste or community. And it is the world's largest democracy. There are no slaves in India, and no slave countries in the world. May the Force Be With You!!

India always had at least some wealth . but, since independence , the politicians and bureaucrats replaced the british in looting all that wealth . here , money is everything . which is why no wealthy person in india gets a harsh sentence if found guilty (unless the case is filed by a wealthier person) .

one recent example : the sentence for bhopal gas tragedy . union carbide and its chairman escaped by paying a pittance and only a few local people were finally judged guilty , that too with a sentence of just 2 years .

unless we put an end to the powerful politicians , india will never become a developed country .

After the British,Portuguese,French looted India,it was the turn of the pocket Maharajas of various states. When India gained independence,it started with an empty treasury. The government coffers have at no stage been allowed to rise beyond the one fourth mark.In recent times the politicians found the treasury and the people a virtual gold mine with an inexhaustible supply.Their hands are permanently dipping into the pot.If their hands are occupied otherwise, their relations' hands are lent.

How then do you expect the country ever to get rich?It will permanently remain poor unless the

Middle-East countries' type of treatment viz.chopping the hands that dip into others' pockets is

given.Have a nice day.

It depends on the which scale you are wieghing? In case of IQ you cannot judge that way for there are more uncounted Indians. It is from India that world learnt to deal with mathematics it gave number zero and numerals (though sadly it got termed as Hindu arabic numerals) and many mathematical and science as well. If not for this stupendous contribution where would science for that matter IT even US would have been?

It is termed poor basically for the lack of proactive and lack of patriotic will of successive govt that ruled India inspite of this major block we have reached where we have.

Our culture is rich so we are rich and Proud Indians no matter what other unintiated call.

india isn't poor it depends on how you estimate India's poverty. today indians are the best scientist, engineers, doctors, economist etc. the only reason india is having them is due to the population in india. due to population there is completion for excellence. but there are only few people who work for india. due to democracy india is reducing the poverty. if it was like china then there would have been more poverty more gap between rich and poor. india is one of the fastest growing country in 60 years of Independence it can do this much think about america on other hand there economy system is so bad that it suffers a massive attack in every 60 years. also indias IQ level is not that bad as mention in one of the answer above also the source of that answer is wrong m saying this because if indians had low IQ then why would have americans need indians for there work(even for IQ work nasa has nearly 30%indians). i don't understand why you people being indians are thinking negative about india. I AM proud to be an INDIAN and can DIE for INDIA

one reason that India is not rich is they have far too many people. They currently are the second most populous nation on earth. Some time this century they will pass China and become the most populous because they are doing little to deal with the issue. I do not see many products made in India when i shop and I sure do see many made in China products!

Great questatin ! poverty is a relative world . You must compar and feel . so let us compare with time . and compare with other country .

TIME:- befor Independence we were poor -ok. we do not have right to ask the reason , our mastar british is your answer. Now after Independence who is ruling ? whom you give task to remove poverty ? we all hand over some to help us out of poverty right ? The CONGRESS PARTY IS RESPONSIBLE- let me precise who is head of party -the one family is responsible . suggest if i am wrong , someone must be responsible -agree? , Than who ? should we punish tham ? how to punish them ? .. election is my answer there may be different answer.

OTHER COUNTRY :-

china was poorer than us befor 1957 , what magic thay doen ? should we or our politicion not willing to remove poverty -actual work no slogan . Yes BJP party is working actual work. proof is support to narendra modi . if modi was in congress he may have ask madam befor working development to remove poverty .

Population I'm afraid. You can only split a dollar so much before it becomes practically worthless.

perhaps its the caste system...India may be poor economically, but they are growing...there are resources in India that most countries only dream of,so that, along with the good people of India, the future looks bright for them...if they can deal with their muslim problem...

Depends how you assess poverty.

If you mean starving poor, it's not so poor any more.

If you mean having plasma TVs and blu-ray DVD players, well, it's poor.

If you mean population and family values, it's quite wealthy.
