As an alternative to unprovoked invasion, do you think it would be right for the US to impose embargoes on countries like China, North Korea and others in order to take a principled stand against their human rights abuses and other offenses and also to bring attention to the offenders? I suggest the U.S. primarily because they are the largest single consumer in the world, but I would also like to see all allies of the US do the same. Would such a move, if done for the right reasons, be successful in affecting positive change? I appreciate any feedback, including practical alternatives, if any.

No, but a public trade record of corporations and businesses should be made available.

the Value of US dollar sould also be a big concern in this matter!!

The fed reserve claims to have 575 billions cash available for rescue plans, Yet, the Chinese and Japanese Gov claim they should have 1 trillions USD each reserved with Fed.. Now, they are asking the US gov to re pay the interests on money borrowed in Japanese and Chinese currencies due to the fact that USD is rapidly losing its value.

The US government needs to borrow at least US$1 trillion in the coming year, excluding the US Treasury's $700 billion plan to bail out the financial and other industries, said Kazuo Mizuno, chief economist in Tokyo at Mitsubishi UFJ Securities Co, a unit of Japan's largest publicly traded lender by assets. That amount is likely to grow as the US government continues to rescue failed parts of the economy and has to raise more debt - that is, issue government bonds, or Treasuries - to fund such rescues.

China on November announced its sweeping economic stimulus package valued at about 4 trillion spending on its infrastructure, which will requires money from US reserves, putting more pressure on the value of USD.

First, many liberals in this usa have the habit of blaming u.s. and seeing it because of the fact the evil empire and actual everybody else is excused from their evil because of the fact we "made them do it". Violence is a call and no remember what I adventure, i'm responsible for my reaction. This makes terrorists no longer something better than murderers. As to protests, they are used as an excuse to flow residing house in a while and don't something. "I went to DC so I did some thing. " in the event that they have been extreme they could deliver a million human beings to Washington and sit down down till some thing replaced. that would contain actual sacrifice and not basically a weekend party so it won't in any respect ensue. they decide to end the conflict see you later because it would not intrude with their each and daily lives. There are the uncommon exceptions yet maximum are weekend activists at superb. The politically superb line is as risky because of the fact the conservative-fundamentalist line. Neither has any base easily. T i % to concentration on close by situations as i've got faith we could create non violent communities which will then lend to peace all over the realm. although, if the Muslim extremists or the Christian fundamentalists get their way, our rights will disappear and that i'll no longer remember as i'm a woman. Its humorous how a lot those 2 communities have in difficulty-free. be conscious too the enslavement of girls being wide-unfold as component of the Muslim way of existence as though it have been the comparable as lights a candle for the holiday trips. do no longer difficulty i'm advised they like wearing the top-to-toe Burka and not being allowed to examine or vote. base line is that we blame the US on one part and the international on the different and it quite is a mix of the two. u.s. would not breed terrorists, human beings do. we are hell-bent on succeeding or getting what we choose at any fee. That concepts-set of selfishness is what creates corruption and conflict. Your terrorist merely could be my freedom fighter. we are able to proceed on like this till we get it: Killing each and each others babies should not be a conflict decision gadget. Peace to You. Peace to All. And to each and all of the wonderful to exist.

No. We the US believe in FREE TRADE..and we must honor our trade agreement.

Besides we owe China too much money in loans so if they call in their markers we would have to see a few states off to pay for this

Start with Alaska and Hawaii..nobody would miss them anyway~P

embargos only hurt the people of a country not the people in power. look at cuba. the people suffer whilst the castros live like royalty

Well, you really have to consider that the US ranks pretty poorly on human rights as well.

Outside of your torture camps, and illegal detentions, you still have the barbaric death penalty.

You really ought to clean up your own house before you try to influence others.
