That's like saying it would destroy my life if I didn't win the lottery.
This guy has a lifetime appointment on the circuit court to return to, doesn't he?

That was dumb hyperbole from Trump and McConnell. Their dumb followers didn't bother questioning leaders words.

No. That's an example of the hysteria of his defenders. If Kavanaugh didn't get confirmed to the court he would go back to what he had already been: a very wealthy federal judge with a lifetime appointment. He would be fine. He wasn't going to die, or go to prison, or have his life destroyed. He just wouldn't be honored with a Supreme Court appointment.

One of the other things that I think his defenders get wrong is that the Senate's job in this confirmation hearing isn't the do right by Brett Kavanaugh. They're not there to flatter his ambition or to help him achieve his life goals, however deserving he may be. They are there to do the right thing for the Court and the country. They should do that even if it means frustrating Brett Kavanaugh, or even being unfair to him.

They have already stained and destroyed his

Name by smearing false accusations about

Him. How would you feel about dozens of

People marching into your life and keeping

You from getting a important job you wanted

With false accusations calling you a drunken

Pervert or sex assaulting criminal. When you

Didn't do it. These things have a very negative

Effect on people.

Party and power over country is what is destructive. That is what Republicans are doing.

Nope. We, the People deserve better than a perjuring, rabidly partisan, sexually aggressive alcoholic on our SCOTUS.

No, he would still continue a privileged life. The only thing it would damage would be Trump's ego and the biggest pain would have been another failure from the GOP. They really didn't need Kav to win, they would just have put up another conservative judge, so no real effect. It was just that they cannot tolerate admitting that they made a mistake.

Now they won't have to, for a while. Until more comes out about Kav from the people that the WH would not allow the FBI to interview. They may eventually have to admit that this nomination was a mistake.

It would be a black eye on an otherwise untarnished, distinguished career as a public servant.

This will follow him wherever he lands...on the high court or not. How could he face his colleagues and hope to function normally if he were not confirmed and crawled back to the Circuit Court? No, even baseless allegations are very damaging to reputations because someone always believes and spreads even the most salacious lies.

Not being confirmed to SCOTUS isn't the destruction - it's the "Oh, isn't he the guy they say is a rapist?" talk that goes on afterwards.

How would you like it if, for example, someone proclaimed on social media that you were a pedophile? Oh, the accusation would soon fall apart, but there's your name, right next to that word and it will NEVER go away.

Get falsely accused of murder? That one people will forgive. Get the word "rapist" or "pedophile" associated to your name? Good luck.

It’s already been destroyed. His 2 little girls will suffer the rest of their lives, there will always be a stain on his career. His daughters will suffer more than the “alleged “victim.

Not if that's all they did. But they were assassinating his character in front of his family and the world. Shame on Democrats for this pathetic move.

The Democrats phony attacks have already destroyed Kavanaugh's good name...Not that you losers care. Hopefully the VOTERS will reward YOU with the loss of 5 - 10 old wrinkly Senate Democrats.
