It's better to be self-reliant.
But that comes with a caveat you will always need some form of government to legislate and regulate.
If you paid into the government or invested in yourself all your life then you are entitled to the benefits.
It's when people become totally reliant on their government.
There is no "if" you can become self reliant. That's a cop out and the lazy way out.
The constitution give you the rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
That means you have the right to pursue a job. hence you may have to get out of the house and pursue a job. Not that dream job but a job nonetheless
that doesn't mean that you sit at home and wait for the government to hand you a check and find you a job that pays six figures and you sit behind a desk.
When did being on unemployment and welfare go from being a badge of shame to a badge of honor
You might have to dig a ditch, or pick up dead animals, or cut down trees. It's a job and it pays the bills.
You re-educate yourself
You stop having children you can't afford, you make your baby daddies step up.
You find "affordable" living condition, not a $200,000.00 home when your only making $1200.00 a month. and you find it in a area where their might be jobs
Actually apply for employment, somebody has to make the fries and or paint. Might has well be you.
Your nails and your Madden skills are gonna have to suck it up.
When has the government ever run or regulated something successfully?
Amtrak?? not hardly
Postal service? how that working?
Housing market, your still paying for those bad home loans.
I know I'm gonna get a lot of thumb down but the unbridled truth is UN-PC and no one really wants to admit things have to change drastically and painfully.
That means Social Security needs a makeover and needs to be enforced
That means Welfare and child welfare needs serious reform and time and restraint
That means unemployment needs a enema, and a weight loss program
That mean income tax needs to be reformed
