Does this prove talking as opposed to conflict is the only way to settle disputes?

There is no problem with talking to anyone, but getting those people to listen to the person trying to talk with them is the major problem.

It's the middle east. These folks have been fighting each other since Moses trappd the Egyptians at the Red Sea.
Hamas is already back tracking on what they promised the Peanut man.
And even if you did get Hamas leaders to agree to quit fighting you still wouldn't get all of Hamas to quit. And then there's Hezbollah, Fatah, and who knows what other splinter group that's looking for status and power.
It would be nice if Hamas and all the rest would just admit they need to look around. Since 1948 they have been saying, "Allah willing we will wipe Israel off the map". Well I don't think Allah is willing, so quit killing people in the name of Allah.

Wow...You anti-Carter people are harsh! I doubt if you even know what President Carter is trying to negotiate. Palestinians are trying to get back a small portion of the land that Israel confiscated. The big problem is: NOBODY in the Bush bunch knows how to negotiate...not a single Diplomat in the bunch. How can "talking", instead of fighting, be wrong? President Carter has proven to be a master at diplomacy and he deserves credit, where credit is due!

It looks as though Secretary Rice will revoke Jimmy Carter's passport within the next couple of days. Hamas is laughing at him behind his back, wondering how anybody could be so naiive as to think that Jimmy could broker peace between Hamas and the civilized world.

Do you honestly think that the islamofacists are really interested in peace through dialogue.
Someone obviously is giving their own thought process and projecting it onto a bunch of middle age mindset neanderthals.

Did you read what they said? Only if Israel does what they say will they stop the fighting. Hello, that's what started all this mess to begin with!
So, the great Jimmy Carter got them to agree to stop fighting if they get their way. Wow, why haven't we thought of that before?

It proves the Terrorists have once again gotten publicity they strive for.
Thanks Carter you sucked as President and now you are aiding and abetting a known terrorist organization. Ten or twenty in the federal pen?

No.
There was NO Breakthrough.
All Carter did was to give the Terrorists More Power.

Carter's whole focus is diplomacy.
It can't hurt, and nothing is solved, ever, by not talking.
I don't think there was a breakthrough, but at least there is dialog.

No. "Slick" Willie talked to Arafat until he got sexually frustrated to the point that he was doing chubby interns and got NOWHERE with those terrorist swine.
