What exactly is going on in Afghanistan?

Are we winning, losing or what? What is it for, why are we there and what's in it for us? If we are losing, how can we win?

We're currently loosing by most accounts - including the Pentagon's.



We're there to try to bring to justice the actual perpetrators of 9/11 and to lessen the influence of Islamic hard-liners.



How can we win? The fastest, cheapest method would be to make long-lasting but distasteful deals with the various Afghan / Taliban warlords - as has been requested by General Petraeus and General McKieman.



Alternatively we can attempt to continue slogging along in a decades-long military assault which at this time we clearly can't sustain.

There isn't an out in this one, Afghanistan is the wrong war. We either went there to get osama or liberal the Afghan people from the terrorist. Afghanistan is about as liberated as it's going to get and osama probably lives in a million dollar a month apartment in Manhattan.



We are stupid to stay there, not one reason why we should.

The government is trying to secure it for oil pipelines to go thru and have our troops guarding the Poppy Fields. They make a lot of money with the drugs they sell to our citizens.



Our troops are cannon fodder.

this isn't gonna be answered properly because i don't know completely. We are fighting the taliban and have probably defeated them but some are probably hiding. we are probably still looking for osama and we win once we destroy the taliban. theyre probably still there in number just in case theres a big problem.

Are you serious???? OMG, who planned the attack on 9/11??? They are in Afghanistan! It was the place we should have been the whole time we were mostly in Iraq, granted we have troops already in Afghanistan.

In Nam, we knew our enemy was hiding in Laos & Cambodia, but LBJ prevented us from going after them. He also forbid attacks on NV airbases and anti-missle batteries, which made him the worst commander in chief in history.



In afghantistan, Obama KNOWS our enemy is based in Pakistan where they re-arm, regroup, train, and plan atttacks on our soliders, bu he leaves them be with the exception of a few drone attacks.



Pakistan is unwilling or unable to deal with our enemies, but we trust them to do it anyway.
