Basically Democrats voted like 35% for it.

Republicans voted 90% for it.



In California, that adds up to about 52%



Who cares, Prop 8 was the dying swan song of the anti-gay movement in the US.

People like to demonise others. It is far easier to demonise those who do something that we personally find difficult to deal with. The Church does NOT have a good history wrt dealing with those who are different. Frankly the various churches pushing Proposition 8 should stop propositioning and get down to dealing with the poor, the widow, the stranger, those who are already being oppressed by society.

Because they have to react in some way to the oversimplification that liberals/Democrats always use in which the left constantly talk as if ONLY Republicans are against gay marriage, which is obviously not true.



Political debate is ugly. Both sides demonize, oversimplify, stereotype the other side.

All I know is that I've only heard that many blacks voted on Prop8 and something like 99.9% of blacks voted for Obama.
