1) She was just speaking from her heart and emotion, probably got dumped by a guy and she can bring this to the court and then she will not have to use that old Constitution. Since she corrects others judges on their spelling she may have a few screws loose. We might learn from the racist stuff she says.

2) The test should have been easier, like multiple choice question like 2 x 2 is a-one million, b-400, c-4. this way everyone passes with a 100 and then they can drawn straws. You noticed all the ones that passed.

3) What do you expect from someone that is starting a bunch of troble that would cause a 700% spike in attacks on our troops or puts financial crooks on notice that they are going to have to be accountable and police themselves, ha, ha.

4) Was the least known and least experienced of the Democratic field. He may find his way, but now the cyborgs are running the show.

5) There are some stellar Hispanic judges he could have chosen and may end up having to do that. The Republicans went along with Clinton's picks and then Ted and company put their choices through the ringer.

Have a great 2009!

Conservatives are just jumping at the opportunity to take a few quotes out of context in order to make her look racist.

The first quote was taken from a speech she gave at Berkeley, and came after she voiced disagreement with Sandra Day O'Connor that a wise old man and a wise old woman would reach the same conclusion when deciding cases. Her quote was A JOKE.

Her ruling in the New Haven case (Ricci v. DeStafano) was based upon Federal law, which places standards on testing which would have a "substantial racial impact". Sotomayor was exercising judicial restraint. To rule in favor of the firefighters would have invoked judicial activism in placing a few firefighters' promotions above federal law. She and the two other judges involved in the ruling were affirming a previous ruling that was viewed as sound legal judgment.

Oh, and by the way, the plantiff (Ricci) was one of the two Hispanics that passed the test, so if Sotomayor is racist, she is racist against her own race.

I am just totally shocked that he picked a female of Porto Rican decent (I refuse to use the word Hispanic). Did anyone see that coming?

It is so blatantly political. I think she is the best the right could hope for coming from Obama, there are far worse woman of Spanish decent he could have picked. The Senate had better do it's job and not rubber stamp her in like they did with Bad Girl Ginsberg.

I would object, if his choice were racist (like you) or sexist (like you).

But I don't need a right-winger from Texas to tell me who should be on the Supreme Court. The last one gave us John Roberts and Samuel Alito. That was bad enough. But we all know his real choices were Alberto Gonzales and Harriet Miers.

Compared to them, Sonia Sotomayor is a gem. Compared to almost anyone, she's pretty good.

Obama is so predictable in his choice for sonia soto she is a Mestizo Puerto Rican hispanic and is ignorant in her view on issues like this. She thinks that because she is Hispanic that she can judge better than a white justice. That is not unusual among hispanics like her. Although it is total nonsense.

you know, I don't agree with her rulings, but what really gets me? The papers. The freaking AP only gave a blurb about her ruling on the fire fighter case, but about 20 paragraphs about the spirit of diversity and about how great it was that a black man nominated a Hispanic woman while a white man (Biden) looked on.

How is this not racist? By forcing diversity, and only noticing when there is not enough color, isn't that being not color blind?

Since Obama was sworn in, I don't watch as much news because it just gives me a headache with all these terrible decisions, choosing Sotomayor for Supreme Court Justice is one of them! She is EXTREMELY racist and liberal, you could probably pick someone off the street that would make a better Justice then her! I don't want a Justice that doesn't believe in fair treatment for white men! I heard the story that she refused to award white male firefighters for their duty specifically because they were caucasian! I don't know what Obama was thinking when he chose her, I think it was a bad decision!

That statement was made in the context of an entire speech that she gave. It was one statement almost at the end of a speech. There was much discussion in the speech about what it meant to be Latina, and discussion about how decisions would be made based upon gender and color. There were several references to different opinions coming from a vast number of judges and justices. Now, do you think no one had sense enough to read the speech? It was not a racist statement if you read the entire speech. I personally would have worded it differently because there would be some white man some day trying to accuse me of reverse discrimination or reverse racism. Like that fat blowhard Rush Limbaugh. What a joke he is! And anyone who believes what he said.

Those quotes don't make her a racist or a sexist. We don't have the context of the quote, and I am sure that it is because taken in context your smear wouldn't work.

As for the discrimination case, you have no idea what the facts were of the case. Also, if you have half a clue as to how the judicial system works you would know that you can't overrule a lower court unless there was an error.

Sotomayor is a horrible choice and I am not basing it on empty rhetoric of a very intellectual but ethnocentric mind run a muck at the mouth. Look at her rulings. Very racial biased. The NYC Fire Fighter Union is going to the Supreme Court to challenge one of rulings that the City can't hire the qualified applicants because not enough blacks passed the test. She with a stroke of a gavel said "higher the inferior candidate based on race" with that ruling. Affirmative Action was intended to be a push for QUALIFIED applicants when all thing were equal in testing and qualifications to aide people of color and never to be a quota system. In 911 many NYC Firefighters died and the City is still short of staff because of her rulings. Response time and fatalities are up because of her. She put the public in mortal danger to create a quota system and now she gets to rule on it in the Supreme Court because her confirmation will be very easy.

This woman is dangerous, ethnocentric, and hates whites. She would rather see people lose property and life to fire than do the right thing. I was a DC in the Navy which is basically a ship board fire fighter and the test is pretty easy. 4 Classes of Fires with distinct characteristics A, B, C, and D fires. Physical Fitness exam, written test about fire saftey/prevention, ability to work/train in extreme heat, and a criminal history free of violent felony. A good working knowlege of the area you will serve. If you can't pass those you don't need to be a firefighter anywhere in any city.

Does anyone know her sexual orientation? What angers me is Gibson and Steponopolus seem perfectly at home with the idea of this white man hating Puerto Rican becoming 1 of 9 that control America for life. Wake up America! We're dieing here!

No I don't agree with his choice. It's pure politics. Putting the GOP in a pinch because the democrats know that they (the GOP) will almost have to approve of her for fear they'll drive a wedge between themselves and the Hispanic vote. All the while if/when she is approved, Obama will have a die hard liberal on the bench who'll be another activist judge, interpreting the Constitution according to her political beliefs. One of the GOP members said something to the effect that a SC justice is not there to be compassionate of empathetic, they are there to uphold the Constitution. But we all know she will be just like all the other liberal activist justices.

No. The war on White folk has begun on a large scale.

American Indians’ animosity toward White folk started upon our first boat landing; when that the entire first colony was massacred by the Indians. Subsequent history proves that American Indians are not native either, as DNA testing proves conclusively that they descent from the Island of Formosa (Taiwan). Countless archaeological sites of former American Indian sites now prove cannibalism was indeed widespread throughout the Americas. The oldest known bones ever found in North America, were that of Kennewick Man, found along the banks of the Columbia River, the skull was that of a Caucasian, not the Mongoloid skull of Indian descendants from Taiwan.

Black animosity toward White folk is evident in the disproportional, Black-on-White, violent crime rate. White animosity toward Blacks started in Africa upon recognition of their brutal violence, cannibalism and willingness to barter their family members and fellow tribesmen. When Whites ran the farms of Zimbabwe, that country was a food exporter. When the Black activist, Mugabe butchered and/or deported the 7000+ White farmers upon coming to power, the population began to starve and now begs for food aid. –From guess who? (Whites)

Blacks in America are the wealthiest Africans in the history of the world, yet even that is not good enough for them. Even as a Black man sits in the White House, atop the RNC & NASA Blacks still complain about racism and demand “special privilege.” -Yes, once the “civil rights” game was played-out, the pendulum kept on swinging. Now in Mississippi’s Black dominated areas, the White vote has been found to be systematically suppressed by the Black majority. It seems equality was the farthest thing from their mind.

Hispanic animosity toward White folk is evident with the large La Raza (The Race) membership and their willingness to march waiving the Mexican flag in the United States. The abhorrent violence in Mexico and the complete willingness of the population there to not only accept it, but to embrace it and to flaunt it offends the sensibilities of Americans and makes White folks in America question how they plan on creating a peaceful society here? -After all, the areas in the US with high Hispanic/Latino populations are infested with gang activity and diseases long cured in America; with diseases like leprosy now showing up in them.

Upon creating the most prosperous, peaceful, philanthropic and liberty-spreading society the world has ever known, White folks in the US could have sided with Germany in WWII. –Yet America decided to INCLUDE foreigners into our society and within twenty years of the conclusion of the war we did just that by passing the “civil rights” & “voting rights” bills in the US. –But equality was not the goal of minorities as is currently being found out.

The backlash against minority oppression and special privilege is starting to really resonate with the majority. As average Americans watch Obama and the communist (Democrats) loot the national treasury and create social programs for minorities at the expense of the majority who now realize they are little more than “rich white land-owners” to the minority who hope to tax their children of their inheritance.

Last century ushered in the so-called “Civil Rights” era, but in the end we found out that diversity creates adversity. –And as this century, this millennium begins the era of “majority rights.” Long live majority-rule!

He wanted to live his racist bigotry on the high court.

This judge doesn't surprise me.

I know he was going to go as far left as possible.

Was she also racist and sexist when Geo. H. W. Bush nominated her to the bench and was confirmed by the senate without opposition?

I don't doubt anything you just wrote. White people are being discriminated against, no question about that. Part of it is our own fault for being weak and allowing it to happen.
