As we can understand the base of corruption is non transparency in the working of the govt.

Lokpal bill is supposed to create this transparency and monitor and create a deterrent . All of this is lacking today.

Even after a public knowledge of corruption and wrong doing MPs get away and are not punished, this creates an rosy picture for the criminal minded to join the politics where you can make lots of money and at the same time are insured against punishments.

At the same time Indians have empowered the Politicians(usually illiterate and criminal minded) to run the country

Such people will certainly push the country down the drain. We certainly r going down the drain.India is respected mostly for its consumption power. Such politicians have created misleading picture of great developement .Even the seeds our farmers use are imported, the doppler radar used to predict rains is imported,Most of the fuel is imported no politician is bothered to develop alternates.Jathropa cultivation is only given verbal support, nearly all Toys are imported,Nearly all the electronic components are imported,Nearly all the arms and ammunition are imported, citizens get Justice after 20-30years

All this and much more, this is NOT sign of good people being empowered in India.

We do find certain islands of excellence eg, Chandrayan , Missiles,Nuclear submarine etc but it is due to the dedication of a group of people.

We cannot become super power due to cinema and cricket, nor out standard of living goes up.

Hence it is necessary to demand a good standard of living and be respected for our strengths and not only for our consumption power.and demand it to happen in our lifetime.

To do all this we require good dedicated people as politicians and not power and money greedy crimnal minded people.

With Janlokpal bill WHEN THE COURRUPT MINDED PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THAT THEY WILL NOT HAVE EASY MEAL IN POLITICS AND BUREAUCRACY. POLITICS AND BUREAUCRACYWILL BECOME LESS TEMPTING TO THEM, AND THEN WE WILL HAVE GOOD PEOPLE STEEPING IN AND THEN WE WILL SEE SOME REALLY GOOD THINGS HAPPENING IN INDIA AND THEN THE DAILY NEWS WILL BE FILLED WITH MORE OF POSITIVE NEWS.

about using tap phones or pull up SC judges,or parliamentarians a proper procedure is laid down the Janlokpal bill ,With lots of focus on transparency so that these lokpals are under the supervision of the common man. Also the Lokpal decisions will be a decisions of panel not individual.

Why shouldn't the Lokpal be so empowered because in our country even the lowliest of lowly government employee thinks no end of himself. These Ministers, parliamentarians,Legislators,Policemen,Judges (all cadres inclusive meaning right from SC to the Village Munsif) consider themselves as above all laws and more

equal than the Common man and that too in a democratic set where the fundamental principle is that all are considered equal. These privileged persons want special treatment till they die.Is the country so bereft of talent that all these functionaries need to be reemployed in some capacity or the other in some sinecure even after they retire. Now take the Case of the former CJ of the SC.Is there no one capable enough to handle the portfolio of Chairmanship of the NHRC?

Don't we have many brilliant people who are quite capable of serving as Ambassador of the US?Why then should the recently retired Foreign Secrtary be

appointed the US ambassador.Any justification that anyone may choose to dish out doesn't wash,at least not with me.

So, let us empower the Lokpal to order tapping of phones of even the President,to

call to question Parliamentarians, haul up corrupt judges and many more such acts.

Only then we can expect a modicum of unfettered justice.

Have a Great Day.

I would be happy with just five changes in the draft of the Lokpal as made by congress party......

A:-the CBI/CAG/Vigilance should be a free body under lokpal

B:-the selection process of Lokpal should be transparent

C:-The inclusion of all bureaucracy and political parties/MP,s/MLA under lokpal

D:- The inclusion of PM under lokpal........

E:-Like Election commsiion Lokpal should be an independent investigating agency

If these 5 changes will happen,i am sure, the majority of big corruption cases will climb down........

And remember Lokpal is an investigating body and is answerable to the judiciary(that is why i am against the judiciary inclusion under lokpal).......And it,s prime work is to investigate and there ruling can always be challenged in the courts of the Country..........

First of this entire idea of Lokpal is a crap:

Per Anna and Company: the government appoint corrupt and weak people as Lokpal members? That won’t be possible because its members will be selected by judges, citizens and constitutional authorities and not by politicians, through a completely transparent and participatory process.

Jan Lokpal will be elected by Judges, Citizens and Constitutional authorities. A politician is also elected by the same citizens. How can we expect that a person, who voted for Mayawati or Karunanidhi in assembly elections, will not selelct their kins during Jan Lokpal elections? Also, is Indian Judiciary totally corruption free? Judges are as corrupt as politicians.

Per Anna and Company: What if some officer in Lokpal becomes corrupt? The entire functioning of Lokpal/ Lokayukta will be completely transparent. Any complaint against any officer of Lokpal shall be investigated and the officer dismissed within two months.

Then what? Another election? Once bitten, will people become twice shy? Who will bear the cost of another election?

Per Anna and Company: You could approach Lokpal if your ration card or passport or voter card is not being made or if police is not registering your case or any other work is not being done in prescribed time. Lokpal will have to get it done in a month’s time. You could also report any case of corruption to Lokpal like ration being siphoned off, poor quality roads been constructed or panchayat funds being siphoned off. Lokpal will have to complete its investigations in a year, trial will be over in next one year and the guilty will go to jail within two years.

Indian Judiciary system is one of the largest in the world. In spite of that we have millions of pending cases. 11 Member Lokpal will be more efficient than thousands of judges, huh?

Anna and Company: Lokpal is necessary to curb corruption

The Lokpal Bill is not necessary. There are enough acts to deal even with corruption, but they are outdated. Many were enacted by the British and loaded with amendments that give opportunities to lawyers to interpret differently, causing delays in dealing with any case in court. All acts over 50 years old should be immediately recast to meet present-day requirements and let the MPs spend more time on getting them passed instead of walking out regularly from Parliament sessions.

Last but not the least:

Technically speaking, Anna Hazare and company have no right to intimidate and force its agenda on the duly elected government in a democratic set-up. That may amount to derailing the government, and this may lead to chaos. However, the same democratic frame envisages peaceful democratic protests to morally influence the government to consider and rectify the existing provisions against corruption or altogether introduce a new bill to help root out corruption. It should be our sincere effort to monitor and upgrade the system from time to time. Hazare’s concern seems to be genuine and worth taking up seriously. Wisdom, and not egos, must prevail on both sides.

lokpal is well advertised and well sponsored....

anything beyond what Ann proposes shall result in chaos...

Ann wants an additional investigating agency submitting findings directly to judiaciary on basis of which judiciary can mobilise the beaurocracy and politicians.

BJP and congrees are developing derivatives of this ...the former to bring chaos and the later to prove that they want to bring chaos.

The question is-- might anna hazare revolt as quickly as extra? See how has he been trapped by the intelligent politicians? He has been criticized for applauding Modi's government to an volume that he had to bypass approximately apologizing for the "mistake". ( comparable were the case with Vastanavi, the VC of darul uloom). Then, of direction the daddy-son duo of bhushans ,with their "alleged" taped conversations have earned him plenty extra grievance. besides the provisions of the bill are no longer encouraging. I wish Hazare agitates in a extra planned way next time against evils like corruption and keeps an outstanding distance from controversies.
