•In 2011, the Romneys paid $1,935,708 in taxes on $13,696,951 in mostly investment income.
•The Romneys’ effective tax rate for 2011 was 14.1%.
•The Romneys donated $4,020,772 to charity in 2011, amounting to nearly 30% of their income.
•The Romneys claimed a deduction for $2.25 million of those charitable contributions.
•The Romneys’ generous charitable donations in 2011 would have significantly reduced their tax obligation for the year. The Romneys thus limited their deduction of charitable contributions to conform to the Governor's statement in August, based upon the January estimate of income, that he paid at least 13% in income taxes in each of the last 10 years.

Additionally, the Romney campaign is releasing a summary of 20 years of taxes, between 1990-2009, detailing their tax expenditures during those years:

Correct wing precedence: Obama's birth certificates, Obama's institution theses Irony can certain be a *****. I'll say this although: considering the fact that that each today's presidential candidate has launched more than 5 years of tax returns it is a reasonable criticism. Given that that no person has ever wondered a presidential candidate's place of beginning and their college papers unless Obama I got to claim that the conservatives defending Romney on this is ridiculous. There are a lot of conservatives who've criticized Romney for this very factor.

The released information is meaningless. He has three years to file an amended return and can change each and every entry. Surely the day after the election he will file an amended return to claim a refund (PLUS interest) for the amount of the campaign-acknowledged charitable deductions that he did not claim on his original TY 2011 return. In the end he will pay less than the original shows.

Summary: This handout image provided by the Romney campaign shows the front page of Mitt Romney's 2011 tax return. I would to see the taxes returns, so since they are going to do the work let the American people see the real thing. Now you can stop typing all the comedy.

Dude, he's been a candidate for years now, and has been able to gear his tax returns to look good. Show me the tax returns from before he was running for prez. 2011 means NOTHING. He had a whole year to make that one as shiny as he could. Show us the ones from before he started planning on them being made public.

Good question! They will find away! He could be as pure as the wind driven snow and they'll make him look dirty. Even if they have to turn the snow yellow themselves.

Philanthropy is just a means to launder money out of the system. Rockefellers have been doing it for decades.
