So this guy almost crashed with my car, so I honked him. Then at a traffic light he lowered his side window and started to yell insults at me. I was frightened and couldn't insult him back since I was afraid he would get out of his car and go to my car to do something to me. This is why I decided that it's time for me to carry a gun in my car, do you believe a Colt M1911 is a good gun?

Brandishing a gun wouldn't really do anything. Everybody in their right mind knows 99.9999% of the people alive would never use it in public. In other words, it's an empty threat that solves nothing and could very well get you into a pickle. My dad's an ex cop. He laughs at people that have a license to carry and actually do carry. He thinks that's the dumbest thing in the world to do, especially if it's in plain view. While working as a police officer, he was required to carry off duty, but he says it's ridiculous for civilians to do so. I agree. If you think about it, a phone camera is a more effective weapon.

So you think a shoot out would have been a better outcome?

An assault rifle or machine gun would be better. You have the advantage if you have the bigger gun.

Trade in your car for an Abrams tank - nobody will threaten you then,  but if they do...

That's why you lived. Because you were unarmed, the other person didn't need to kill you. If you had a gun, then he would have had to kill you. It doesn't really matter which type of gun you carry, because whenever you try to defend yourself, with any type of gun, the other person is forced to defend themselves, by killing you first.

That you are alive to ask this questions proves that being unarmed was the right decision. It is why you did not die.

Ok problem I see here is you wanted to get a gun after being yelled at. What would you have done in that situation if you had a gun? Would you have shot him off words spoken?

I’m not anti gun either but I am judging you based on what you said here. You don’t seem like you should have a gun. You seem like you’d be reckless and quick to pull it out

I would suggest something with a larger magazine capacity that'll blow a hole you in a perpetuator you can walk through.

If you had shot him you would be in jail.

Why would you need a gun when you have a 4000 lb weapon with a couple hundred horsepower?

I've owned a 1911 since Uncle Sam issued me one in 1969, but it's a powerful pistol and it KICKS like a mule.  I suggest YOU go to a shooting range that rents guns and try a few different calibers to find which one YOU LIKE ..........................
