Question:
Don't you think this whole union protesting thing is silly?

Public employees get 5% raises every year even when inflation is 0%.

Public employees retire at 55 with double the money private sector employees get at 67.

Who do they think they are to cause this disruption?

Unions are needed more-so in the private sector than in the public sector.
because private businesses need to make a profit;
and profit is an incentive to pay their employees less and make their employees work in less humane conditions.

The public sector doesn't really have good use for unions........
as unions serve more of a purpose of making sure teachers can't get fired no matter how unqualified.
Unions value seniority over merit.

To answer your question;

Yes, it is hard to feel sorry for unions members who commit fraud by faking sick notes in order to continue to be paid while protesting.....

“Primum nil nocere.” First, do no harm. This bedrock principle in medicine is a foreign language to most politicians and, sadly, to some Wisconsin doctors, who have violated their oath and the public trust as they have defrauded Wisconsin taxpayers.

Several University of Wisconsin family physicians donned their sacred white coats and were caught distributing fraudulent “sick notes” free for the asking quite literally by the boxful - I wonder who paid for that printing - to teachers and others who skipped work to engage in political protest at the state Capitol in Madison. Whatever the merits of the teachers’ protest, there’s a word for what these doctors and teachers are perpetrating: fraud.

I agree with you about the public sector and unions, but not totally on the private sector. When the unions started it was because of brutal working conditions and they were very much needed. They got away from that and became greedy just like the businesses they once fought to get good working conditions. I am not saying all unions are bad some still do a good job by their members, assisting in litigation and aiding in times of trouble, but a lot of them seem to protect the slacker who wants a good check but not to work. I know police that have cops that are always in trouble for inappropriate behavior, but their union protects them. I also saw it at the factory I once worked, person was always late disrupting things, even sabotaged a job to slow it down because he got in trouble and the supervisor yelled at him. The union saved him and he continued to create a miserable working environment. Now how is this helping to make a profit for the employer? How is this benefiting the workers that have to carry this slacker? it isn't . Guess what this business went under and sold its assets to a Swedish company and another American company went under.

I guess what I am trying to say is, if you want unions fine but make them do what you want. Don't keep dead weight and work with the companies. I have nothing against asking more from a company that is making huge profits, but also make concessions when they aren't, being unemployed doesn't help anyone.

No, they are absolutely right. These GOP Governors want to destroy the workers movement This is only the beginning. Then come right to work laws, prohibition of collective bargaining and destroying the Union political clout, but yet preserving the rights of the NAM and Chambers of Commerce to contribute to the GOP.

Workers in private industry are in the same predicament, as government workers. Persecuting teachers is a big mistake because they are the people who teach our children how to function in society and behaviour in general

Don't let the GOP split you, if you do we may very well end up with Fascism , making Bush look like a liberal.

I AM STICKING WITH THE UNION ! SOLIDARITY FOREVER !

Hope this helps

You are correct......the WI issue has put what you've outlined on the national map. The same teachers union in NJ has just announced yesterday that it has proposed a major departure from seniority over merit. NJ Governor Christy has riled the feathers of his union over the same issues that Walker in WI has. Now NJ is going to deal with an unsatisfactory teacher rating before or AFTER tenure, will get a formal corrective action review.....the teacher rated will provide a plan in writing to improve the rating. The teacher then has 1 school year to reach satisfactory ratings. If not improved, the teacher will be terminated within 100 days.

In principle - welcome to how the private sector operates........and it's about time!

it is not actual; quite a few protests have been deliberate in the time of the previous years. whether, this protest became deliberate by employing Egyptians on facebook. extremely, Wael Ghonim began the call for a mass protest on the twenty 5th of January (as a results of fact it is the Police Day in Egypt) on an internet site spoke of as "we are All Khalid Saeed" [Khalid Saeed became a youthful guy who became crushed to dying by employing law enforcement officials for posting a video on youtube showing police scandals]. Wael Ghonim became inspired by employing Mohamed Al Baradei's call for exchange in 2008. whether, each and all of the demands protests formerly the twenty 5th of January have been a failure; even Al Baradei's call for exchange in 2008 became in simple terms talks for 3 good years. additionally, the Tunisian revolution is one important reason that would not be denied. Tunisia's revolution inspired Egyptians and gave them desire that they could make a transformation; on condition that Egyptians had lost desire in exchange on condition that an exceptionally long term. every person attempting to declare it is deliberate is in simple terms attempting to grant credit to specific people who do not deserve it. The protest became deliberate some days formerly the protest. And returned in case you opt to recognize why they happened extremely in 2011, right here you pass: a million - The pretend parliament that became set with the aid of forgery some months in the past to make the President's occasion the dominant occasion in parliament. 2 - The terrorist attack on the Church in Alexandria on New 12 months's Eve, which became deliberate by employing the Minister of indoors as a fashion to create conflict between Egyptians. 3 - the drawing near Presidental elections and the plan of the President to forge the elections returned [confident, the president has consistently been triumphing with the aid of forgery] as a fashion to pass on the rule of thumb to his son. 4 - The Tunisian revolution.

I don't think it is silly at all.

It gives people who don't know anything about unions see the behavior of union protesters. The signs with hateful things written. The protesters who yell at reporters but can't back up their claims against the reporter's network. The students who were brought by their union member teachers who just knew they were getting out of class and had no idea why they were there.

Yes, it teaches a person a lot about unions.

For people cashing out so quick and getting such great benefits, they're not very educated or educated in very difficult subjects. Criminal Justice and Education are two of the easiest subjects in college. I beleieve one of my Law professors refered to those degrees as nothing more than toilet paper compared to non unionized people in those fields. Private school teachers, who have better results and are usually more educated, get less pay and benefits and FED leo, better educated and in more lucrative areas like Law, Accounting, Computer Engineering, Language or one of the harder sciences like chem, Bio or Engineering make less money than most cops. military personel get less benefits than most cops and fire fighters. Bottom line, these people need to shut up and be happy they have jobs because with so many states losing money it's hard to pay their share of the pension.

You are correct on all accounts Lois. And I am a unionized teacher in Michigan.

Seems you have a better grasp than most of what is truly going on.
