Do you believe Obama when he says he isn't toughening his stance is response to criticisms from here at home?

Obama has been clinging to his desire to "negotiate" with the Iranian Leaders.

Excerpt from the article:

"But he repeatedly declined to say what actions the U.S. might take, retaining — for now — the option of pursuing diplomatic engagement with Iran's leaders over its suspected nuclear weapons program."

It seems more than just a little naive that he believes he can trust them after the events of the past few days even if their history is to be discounted.

This very reason is why I voted for him. He understands what his words can be used for, by the enemy, if he goes all guns a blazing like 49 percent of the GoP wants him to do. Quietness is never a bad thing. If he throws words around now, he could ruin any chance at improving any kind of relations with Iran, if Ahm. stays in power. If he throws a few threats out, then the new leader has to worry about looking weak to his own hardline people when it comes time to speak with Obama and maybe even make a concession or two for the betterment of the world. Obama is doing this 100 percent correctly. I wish other people could see it. You think Iran, Iranians, Russia, etc... dont know we like to kick foreign butts? We really need to say it? The GoP wants the country to take off a big ole bite of world police force turd stew, and then what? We have now alienated the leaders, probably a handful more Iranian citizens, and we are not only stuck at square one, but we have no square two in sight. Praise be to Obama, on this issue.

That guy above quoting Obama's book is horribly mis quoted. He did not say that, Digg it on google, snopes, fact check. They are your friend, not FOX News.

I think his staff is doing the research needed to see if decisions of that magnitude are indeed within his pay grade.

During the redecoration after he won I think the old "The Buck Stops Here" sign got thrown away.

using fact carter relatively has no skill he's no longer President, and, in spite of his adventure he's in far greater than his head, he gave Hama's a unfastened media day to appear as if stable adult males. Hama's won't have peace... they could choose for Israel to leave them on my own until eventually they injury Fatah, yet thats all they relatively need.

He's like those people who jump into the Boston marathon at the very end and run across the finish line waving their hands in the air and soaking up the applause lol.

That is why you whine on Yahoo Answers and he is President. Read up on Iranian/American relations .

1953 CIA overthrows democratically elected government in Iran

1980s United States arms and encourages our puppet in Saddam Hussein in Iraq to invade Iran killing over million Iranians.

The United States has no credibilty and Obama is doing what the Iranian patriots want. He will not impose American wants onto the Iranian people yet again. So what the F is the problem?

How effective was Bush's abundance of tough talk?

Bush took office when a moderate reformist (Khatami) was president of Iran. After four years of Bush tough talk, Iran elected the radical Ahmadinejad, largely in response to U.S. blustering.

And now Republicans are angry that we're not continuing the policy that's failed for eight years?

It seems to me that trying a new approach is simply rational -- just as trying the old approach and expecting a different result is fundamentally irrational.

Well, I don't know. It would make sense for him to toughen his stance simply because of the way things are unfolding over there.

In the beginning, they were not killing the protesters like they are now.

Not at all. Read his original comments after the Iranian election. Then read his June 5 comments and then today's comments. He has been consistant and been very diplomatic.

He is smart. What do you want him to do, take us into war? Anything he says will only make the Iranian government come down harder on their people. You may think that is fine, but it isn't. Smart people don't have to poke a rattlesnake with a stick to prove they are macho.

We have not been asked to interfere in the Iranian election. Obama's stance is the correct one.

It's called an APPROPRIATE reaction. Things are getting more violent, so he's speaking up more. As opposed to Bush who would have started shooting his mouth off and threatening invasion from the very start, and made things a lot worse.

No Obama is a COWARD.

Obama has been trying to force a confrontation with Israel. Peace is just a cover for Obama’s real intentions.

Obama wants to force Israel into a Peace Treaty Obama knows Israel can’t keep.

Obama knows that Israel can’t wait to be attacked. Israel has to and will respond to perceived threats in order to effectively defend them selves.

If Obama can get Israel to agree to Peace Terms that Obama knows Israel can’t keep and provoke Israel into an attack on one of Israel’s Islamic neighbors Obama thinks he can sway the World behind Islam.

Barack Hussein Obama said in his book 'Audacity of Hope', “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction what better place for the Muslins to control our country, than in the office of the President of USA”.
