Question:
Why is Chick-Fil-A being persecuted for their religious beliefs?

Look, all the guy said was that he supported the Christian view of marriage.

Why are idiots like Bloomberg and Rahm Emmanual saying they don't want Chick-Fil-A in their towns because of that?

I don't approve of that at all. Every company should have the right to endorse a certain opinion no matter how unpopular it is.

We get oil from OPEC, and those countries beat homosexuals to death.

For too many Liberals, freedom of speech is good, as long as it's speech they subscribe too. What they believe in often is taken to be so much more important that what others do thus, the ends justify the means for THEIR "lofty" goals.

With Chick-Fil-A, a single man's PERSONAL opinion was attempted to be punished by (Liberal Progressive) GOVERNMENT! We are quick to point out that this kind of thing is what's wrong with how other oppressive foreign governments, but can't see the problem when it happens here.

Mayors that initially had a knee-jerk reaction but they are backing off. Unfortunately colleges where "free thinking" is supposed to be embraced, there are petitions going around to kick EXISTING Chick-Fil-A restaurants off campus. Shame, shame, shame.

It's just his personal opinion, and he's just one person in the company. I agree that goverment officials are punishing a person for simply stating an opinion, that the definition of marriage should stay the same as it always has.

Chick Fil A doesn't treat it's gay customers or employees differently. The CEO didn't advocate violence against gays, or mistreatment of them. He only said that the law shouldn't be changed.

He is within his legal rights to state that the law should stay the same. The mayors of Chicago, New York and Boston are out of legal boundaries in punishing him for free speech. He should file a federal lawsuit against all three cities.

And now it's even worse.

I am NOT a lemming to the gay agenda.

However, they are now being treated to the TRUE ethics of their attackers.

We'll see if the attackers of Chick-fil-a have ethics.

I supported gay rights. Until they speak up against this NEW garbage, I will be doing JUST THE OPPOSITE. They had better speak up against this new routine, or I am DONE.

It's worse.

Now they are posting all sorts of fake posts about food poisoning.

Oh DEAR GODS, folks.

Do a search.

THEY ARE POSTING FOOD POISONING POSTS EVERYWHERE ABOUT CHICK-FIL-A!

This is going to backfire BAD.

I have seen a LOT of contemptible, unethical things, but THIS IS THE LIMIT!

This is the CREEPIEST thing I have seen people do in a LONG TIME.

Folks, if you let them do this, you are ENCOURAGING this behavior. You are APOLOGISTS. You have participated by your silence in an act so utterly without ethics that it will affect how our country works for decades.

All they have to do is LIE, on the WEB, LOUDLY.

ME? Don't believe me. GO CHECK. Do a search, but LOOK AT THE DATES OF THE POSTS.

They are LYING. I am done with them. I have been supportive of gay rights, but if they don't speak up against the tactics being used here, I am voting against gay rights EVERY TIME.

I've had it. This is stunning.

Great job, people, you just created at least ONE person who is going to do his VERY BEST to point out every blog I can the unethical garbage being done.

Enough of this.

They are now going to lose half their customers. So who cares what anyone says about them. They didn't appreciate the gay people who actually were their job creators so they are going to be fired. They can blame Obama when they go out of business.

I have my view which is that Jesus said Love Thy Neighbor not but only if he is straight.

So everyone who believes as I do and who has love and sympathy and compassion for anyone gay will stop going to chick fil a. Why should they give their money to them if they are haters and that is not how they want money spent.

No one is persecuting them. They will end up doing their owns selves in.

I wish some rich liberal or a bunch of them would open a restaurant up as close to each one of their places just to put them out. Conservatives are not going to support them cause they hate to spend money so it will be funny. They either part with their money to keep them in business and help the economy doing it or they go out of business.

No actually he said that he was taking political action, through financing, to restrict the choices of American citizens. Nobody is persecuting anyone. Some of choose not to help fund such efforts.

We both know that funding and personal belief are two different things. That's why you and the rest of the right wingers intentionally rephrased Dan Cathy's statements. To leave the money part out. I know you think little white lies like that are acceptable, but you are wrong. Just like you are wrong about gay rights to marry one another.

Because their religious beliefs include excluding others.

If their religious beliefs included, say, not serving blacks, would you object?

OK, so they serve blacks. They serve homosexuals as well. However, they take the money that they get from homosexuals and they spend it on organizations that actively tell homosexuals that they are sinning.

Homosexuals are not pleased about this.

So homosexuals choose not to eat there any more. And people who sympathize with homosexuals might also choose not to eat there any more either.

Chick-Fil-A is being persecuted for persecuting.

What goes around comes around.

Nobody is trying to take any LEGAL action against Chick-Fil-A - we're just taking good old fashion capitalistic action. We don't like them so we don't buy from them. Towns have the right to choose who is going to be given business licenses there - people like Bloomberg and Emmanual and Menino are lobbying to not give Chick-Fil-A licenses in their towns. They are expressing their first amendment rights of free speech. I happen to agree with them.

Part of their Chick-Fil-A's product is their image. We don't like their image any more. How much simpler can you get?

Towns decide to prevent certain kinds of businesses all the time (perhaps the most standard example is strip joints). Why shouldn't these towns decide not to allow Chick-Fil-A? It is perfectly within the rights of prominent citizens to lobby to not allow such neanderthal companies.

So what are you complaining about? The fact that they are exercizing their right of free speech, or the fact thtat they don't have the same view of marriage as you do?

Not patronizing a specific restaurant because the profit they receive from my purchase will go to a cause I do not support is persecution? So I guess by not contributing to the Republican Party I am persecuting rich white guys. By not helping fund the American Nazi Party I must be persecuting racist bigots.

I say Christ had no view on homosexuality. If you do not send me money, by your logic, it will mean you are persecuting me for my beliefs. Why do you want to persecute me?

Your actual question says " Why are idiots like Bloomberg and Rahm Emmanual saying they don't want Chick-Fil-A in their towns ,,,,,,,"

Again, you asked "Why are idiots like Bloomberg and Rahm Emmanual ,,,,,,,,,"?

Ok, just in case you Don't get my point, One more time: "Why are idiots ,,,,,,,,,,,,, ?"

It is like asking why the rattlesnake bit you.

@FLSwampBoy - I work for a Fortune 25 company. Prior to a rather large Gay Pride parade in our city, the company placed a banner in the foyer, encouraging everyone to sign it. The banner would later be carried in the parade by homosexual employees.

I was largely ambivalent to the banner. But could we also say that * my * company should "shut its trap and originate loans"?

C-F-A is a private company. He can say whatever the hell he wants to. The public will decide whether or not his mindset is punishable by refusing to eat there.

Funny about Rahm Emmaneul.

Up until recently his former boss, Barack Obama, did not support gay marriage. Somehow, they were ok with that.

Because they don't want funding to go to the Organizations that Chick-Fil-A donate too. I'm not making a big fuss, i just won't ever eat there again.

They Publicly promote.. Discrimination....Used religion as an excuse to discriminate..
2012-07-29 02:01:30 UTC
because of libs,.

1st off why are companies taking sides on such issues?

2ndly why are libs so upset? i mean they didn't say anything bad about gays. they just said they believed in the biblical definition of marriage.

they did the same thing to Ms. CA too.

Libs are all over not having religious beliefs inflicted on politics, but apparently they are fine with politicians inflicting their political beliefs on religion. The hypocrisy is astounding... and obscene.

Because there are people with morals who don't want to be associated with immoral people who discriminate against people. Expand that to cities vs. business, there are moral cities who don't want to be associated with immoral businesses. Discrimination is NEVER a moral choice.

It is troubling when officials and leaders ban together to criticize a free citizen for his beliefs or opinions. If citizens are to be silenced, you must ask yourself why.

because we live in a society today that is nothing but a bunch of cry baby, me, me, me. we are getting closer and closer to no freedom of speech seeing as though everything that comes out of anyones mouth is just picked apart and discected.
