Ford,

Not GM., I don't want government owned and operated vehicles.

I will not buy another car or truck from GM or Chrysler as long as the federal government has a hand in the business. One man protest. I will probably buy a Ford next time I purchase a car which will hopefully be in the next 6 months.

Here's what kills me about the auto industry today.

Obama has made it clear that while we should by American, to create American jobs, the only hope Chrysler has is to be bought by a 3rd rate European car company. And that GM has to be bought by the United States government to stay viable.

Pathetic.

Ford has made a smart decision by not taking the government money that GM and Chrysler has taken. I will buys Fords from now on because of it.

My father and sister worked at GM as did some uncles. I have bought GM cars for years. I had an Impalla, Corvair, 2 Vegas, (whoops moved to Chrysler for a mini van before GM came out with a minivan), Buick Grand Am - two of them, Buick LeSabre (liked that one really well), a Saturn, Chevy Venture Van Warner Bros ed.(love it and still have it - a 2002 I bought late in 01. Had a Ford van stuck in there once as well. But most GM cars. I don't like buying foreign.

However, I won't buy a Chinese GM car. The drywall is bad enough or the lead based paint on toys. So they are about to lose my loyalty.

I was so tempted to buy the new Saturn sports car, it is really cute. My sister likes the Pontiac one that looks similar.

What doesn't make sense is to get rid of Saturn when it is a small economic car.

The Hyrids go less than 40 miles (that is to church but not all the way back for me). So have to use gas or recharge. And electric costs money too. So I don't see the practicality of that yet. I'd prefer to see window power and ocean power for electric. In the winter in FL, why don't we use more solar? Then it would free up gas for autos. Sure we need more mpg on cars But not everyone will want a little death trap car. I'm 65 but I'm not ready to go yet. I like my mini van. Would love to be able to afford another one on my retirement income. Great for visiting with grandkids.

I'm not sure if I will stick with GM or not, but won't get one from China - for sure. And hate to see the Hummers which were a quasi -military vehicle being sold to a Communist country that could be an enemy. What are they thinking?

I was all for the bailout, but I wanted american jobs kept in America. How are workers supposed to buy cars if they have no jobs. If they make cars in Mexico, sell them in Mexico. If they make them in China, sell them in China.

After saying that, I wondered if all you who say you wouldn't buy GM as long as the government owned it -- don't you realize you are the government? You own a part of GM now. Their profits should go to the government and would at least pay back the money they received from "us".

I will consider Ford as I have frequently bought their products, but under no circumstances will I buy another GM or Chrysler product as long as the government or the UAW has any investment at all in either.

As a true American, I will shop for the best vehicle to fit my needs at a good price. Free market competition is as American as it gets. The only exception is that I will not buy a vehicle by any company owned (in whole or in part) by the government.
2009-06-08 12:24:15 UTC
Nope. I will never buy a GM car as long as the company is intertwined with government. I guess you could say that I am voting with my dollars. I won't buy a Ford either, but that is based more on the models of car that they produce. I guess all my years of driving Volkswagons and BMWs has spoiled me.

As an American, I support Captalism and believe in supporting companies who excel and create superior products. Captalism means the strongest companies survive.

I also would rather buy from a company that employs American workers to build their products versus a company that outsources it's production to foreign countries wherever possible.

What you are saying is that we should all be socialists and let our government support companies that drive themselves out of business due to their own flawed business practices. We don't give billions of dollars in bailout money to citizens of this country who made poor financial choices and got themselves into debt, so why should GM or anyone else get our tax dollars?
2009-06-08 11:33:22 UTC
Ford has already done a disservice to America.

From experience, I always found that their cars wear down faster, need more fixes than other companies, like Volkswagen.

GM on the other hand, I'll give a chance.

I have never owned anything but from the Big 3. My next car will probably be a Ford. The only one I ever had a problem with was a Chrysler. I drive a Chevy right now. I'll probably keep it one more year and then replace it.

I have a chrysler product now...............old chrysler product which is paid for. I had to pay to put replace an engine that was still under warranty, and chyrslyer refused to pick up the tab. I will NEVER buy another of their products again. I will keep this car until the wheels fall off since I cannot afford to purchase a replacement either new OR used.

I will buy a Ford. I will not buy a GM product as long as the government has any control or say in what they manufacture.

I buy from the company that has the best deal...right now I have a 2000 Dodge, and have no problems with it...Have had it since new. But my next purchase may be a Toyota or something. U gotta remeber the cars are assembled here, not totally made here...many foreign parts in USA cars...
2009-06-08 11:27:02 UTC
Right, if you're a patriot you must buy second rate vehicles. Don't buy superior foreign made cars and trucks. Just keep sending the message to GM, Ford and Chrysler that they can go on fleecing the American public. That's very patriotic. :)

I have no problem shopping ford - they were able to worm their way out of the bailout scandals and it looks like they are going to come out ok...

I will never again buy a GM car though.

I would be the one to buy a new car only to have the government make me give it up a year later for a go-cart with a hamster wheel.
2009-06-08 12:55:57 UTC
Ford. (Or God help me, maybe even Toyota.)

I've driven nothing but Jeeps for 15 years now, but Chrysler products are next on the Socialist's chopping block.

Either way, I refuse to encourage anything this clown does.

Ford. I've been a Chevy man all my life, and I've owned one Ford which fell apart around the engine within two years, but if I were buying today, I'd go back to Ford.

Not anymore, here's the thing. Toyota and Honda build better vehicles and do it for cheaper...period.

In reality the unions are an out dated concept. They must do away with the unions and renegotiate with it's vendors. When they begin selling vehicles that are priced equal with the market, then I begin looking at them.

I knew I would never buy GM when I saw a bunch of union thugs beat the crap out of my neighbor in my lawn because he kept working to pay his bills instead of go on strike.

Failed ideologies need to fail.. I will never buy from them.

I just bought a new Ford !!
2009-06-08 11:25:47 UTC
Probably. Every car I've owned has been American made. My first was a Buick, my second was a Chevy, and I'm currently driving a Pontiac.

I got two words for you Nimby my friend: Used. Pontiac.

EDIT: I'll buy from an American company, so long as the gov. doesn't own it.

I will buy Ford, they took nothing from the Marxist Obama
2009-06-08 11:24:57 UTC
Absolutely. I am actually in the market for a new car, and would TOTALLY consider the Corvette, Mustang, Challenger, or Camero.
