Do you think our punitive system is too soft?

Okay, I just got through watching something about a man whose name escapes me. He kidnapped and raped a 14 year old girl, and then cut off her hands for some unknown bizarre reason--he did 13 years for that crime (too lenient if you ask me). Less than 5 years later after his parole, he killed a prostitute--and it was noted that he dozed several times during his trial, and was seen on camera smiling and quietly joking with his lawyer at his sentencing hearing. I'm sure he really was looking forward to his 3 square meals and free rent for life.

It really made me think that maybe our prison system is far too lenient...they should be transformed into slave labor camps where inmates are up from 7 am to 7 pm hauling heavy scrap metal and coal or picking cotton in the hot sun (no offence meant to any African Americans). And no one is ever refererred by their name--only a number...and no one is allowed to speak to each other for any reason. I'd bet you if the prisons were transformed into slave labor camps, "repeat offenders" would be unheard of, and people would start to think twice before pulling on a ski mask and walking into a gas station. What's your opinion?

Personally I think they should start at the bottom by educating officers to be the best they can be, and maybe having some other agency to make sure cops are corrupt. That way there will be less innocent people taking the fall.

Then they should reinstate the death penalty, anyone who gets it has a week to live. No more.

That would clean up prisons a lot.

I'm kind of shaky on what the punishment should be.

Hard physical labor does ring true to me, because there are some fairly heinous acts out there that aren't punished with life.

At the same time, physical labor isn't going to get many people anywhere in today's world. Many of the people who are in prison are in there because they're uneducated and couldn't hold a job down if they wanted to. They got in the wrong crowd when they were young, or the education they had just wasn't enough.

So I think prisoners should be assessed. Anyone who graduated high school should have to do hard physical labor. Anyone who didn't should have to do hard education.

Least the first time around.

Second time they're in there, it should be hard work all around.

Third time, I think it should be automatic life.

I do like that assigned a number thing, and that's their name. Working from 7-7 too.

Incarceration is punitive at the instant. in the process the 1970's and 1980's there develop right into a penal complicated gadget. using fact the penitentiary inhabitants bigger the penitentiary course and components moved to a greater punitive/penal complicated gadget. First time offenders are given the terrific risk and people who're repeat offenders the penitentiary components for coaching, vocational or institutional jobs develop into extra removed from being waiting to get carry of. in keeping with my adventure penitentiary might desire to be organic punitive so as that the very seen having to return brings chills up ones backbone. it is going to likely be complicated artwork, no television, a radio and diverse library time to get carry of books to make certain, minimum prisoner circulation. I say take it back to the basics and stay with that. the only concern with this photograph is that prisoners could how you will make certain, develop into versed on many subjects. What could the worldwide do with a collection of adult men popping out of penitentiary properly examine as any college professor? The penitentiary gadget's history in Illinois use to be complicated and produced many surprising human beings using fact they have been pressured to make certain.

Well.....working 12 hr days would conflict with their butt bubba time as well as reduce their cable TV allotment.....all thanks to the ACLU. Bubba lives high on the ghetto hog on the tax payer dimes while that little murdered girl is 6' under ground. I've always wondered why the ACLU cares less about that.
