Its like one day we feel safe putting our kids in colleges , the next day we find out there are communist / marxist professors everywhere teaching kids lies and brainwashing them. How did they get hired? I can't even imagine how an interview between a highly educated president of a university and a guy like Ward Churchill would fly? Did Nancy Pelosi travel all over America telling Universities you hire this radical and I will fund you more? That would not suprise me!

If parents did a better job parenting and provided their children with a good foundation they wouldn't have to worry about their children being brainwashed. Unless brainwashing is what you call it when someone disagrees with you.

It depends on the department, the state, the college etc....

When I was in school (when dinosaurs roamed the earth) the arts were liberal (really) and the sciences were about 50/50 while other departments (economics, poli sci) leaned more conservative.

I do believe that the best professors are usually those who've actually DONE something in their field other than teach--- like my chemistry prof who worked for Eastman-Kodak for years or the History prof I had who served as a soldier in WWII Germany.

Those guys I respected because they lived what they taught.

I am currently in college and have to deal with one professor, who I have every single semester, who promotes Marxism. Another professor spends the first several weeks of each new class preaching the righteousness of Charles Darwin. Another professor openly laughs at the Bible and calls it a fairy tale book, but won't dare open her mouth against any other "holy" book because we all have to be fair and accepting with those other beliefs. Another professor believes that Shakespeare was God's second son and Jesus' baby brother.

Luckily, I had a mom who taught me the truth. I can sit and listen to these lies and accept that they are only opinions of a select few, and I believe what I believe, and its all good.

Gotta jump through the hoops if you ever want to be anything in this life. Doesn't mean a person has to believe everything they're told.

As chair of this Board he helped to restructure it as the largest Chicago contributor to community organizing, granting three million dollars per year to that cause with heavy emphasis on education reform. Addressing racism and incarceration from another angle, he critiqued punishment of children and youth in contrast to their habilitation in Zero Tolerance, a practical and thoughtful handbook for parents, students, educators, and all concerned citizens. Dr. Ayers also founded the Center for Youth and Society in 1999, which studied and assisted urban young persons of color as they face discrimination or oppression based on race, class, or gender in our culture with special emphasis on education.

Have you gone to college? I did, for five years. Got my B.A. and graduated with honors. I dealt with professors on the left, professors on the right (yes, they exist), and others in between, who didn't seem to have a political ax to grind one way or the other. That's kind of the idea of going to college -- you get exposed to new ideas. It doesn't mean you have to become a Marxist just because you might be exposed to Marxist beliefs.

As Aristotle said, "It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it."

The people on campuses are there because they have the credentials to be there. They excel in their specialized fields of knowledge. What would you do, send jack-booted thugs onto college campuses and abduct anyone who doesn't think the way you like?

“The philosophy of the schoolroom in one generation, will be the philosophy of government in the next” –Abraham Lincoln.

The Democrats took that to heart and thirty years ago took over education so as to mold the future generations to their will. Ward Churchill didn’t slip thought the cracks, he was invited in.

Condi Rice and Ken Starr are professors, too. Maybe Nancy got them their job, too.

I bet you couldn't name 15 "radical professors" nationwide.

And I am sorry to hear republican child raising is having problems, that really is a shame with parents like Sara Palin and George Bush you think you'd be better off.

So you are saying all professors are radical but most people pushing to move radical professors are other radical professors? You sir are an idiot.

These professors have their jobs because they have impressive academic credentials. You don't agree with them? Get your own Ph.D. in a respectable field, and use your expertise to confront them with your facts and opinions. Otherwise, you're just sadly amusing.

I'll ignore your moronic calls for a neocon stalinist purge of academia.
