Did the release of detainees from Guantanamo violate a requirement to notify Congress 30 days in advance?

Obama negotiated with terrorists- FAIL

Obama BROKE THE LAW by not notifying Congress - FAIL

Obama released FIVE high level terrorists in exchange for one deserter - FAIL

Obama LIED (as usual) that the five terrorists released are "not a threat" - FAIL

Now you lefties can scratch your heads and wonder why the majority of America does NOT trust this admin.

Because the president considered the deal he struck to gain the release of Bergdahl was an exception to this provision in the law. He negotiated the release of a US soldier held captive, and was not exclusively or primarily just releasing GITMO prisoners. When he signed the NDAA, President Obama included a signing statement that questioned the constitutionality of the provision that required a 30 day notice before release of GITMO prisoners in all circumstances. He saw the negotiation for release of Bergdahl as an extraordinary circumstance which required an executive decision without the need to consult Congress.

While he did not follow the recently-enacted 30-day requirement for notification of taking action, you cons act as if all this was a complete and utter surprise to Congress.

Whereas the actual truth is that the discussions began in 2011, with many member of Congress--including Dianne Feinstein--not only knowing about it but participating in it. And in those discussions the only names mentioned for swap were those five.

If those five were such a threat, why were they

1. Never charged with any crime or terrorist activity against the US, either by the previous or current administration?

2. Never designated as terrorists by either the previous or current administration?

And fun fact: When they were captured in 2001, the Taliban was the government, and was not considered a terrorist organization.

But the big FAIL, Sparky, is how you make the recovery of a POW a very bad and horrible thing, how you insult and threaten the parents, how you create false "facts" based on innuendo and rumor. But I guess that's your SOP.

Haven't heard of a president yet who hasn't lied of broke some sort of law while in office besides congress just got their panties in a wad cause they think they have all the power and to those who say the freed soldier was a deserter haven't seen any proof or that either only stories made up by Fox news and other places.

US presidents aren't required to notify Congress until 90 days after and even then Congress usually overlooks that.

You do realize anyone who disagrees with Obama's version of this deserter being an honorable and distinguished hero is now considered a lying psychopath by this administration.

The exact excuse Obama needs to make the "mental health" case on the 2nd.

Fascism is here. What shall Americans do about those who no longer tolerate disagreement and express hate towards those who disagree.

Maybe, but all the Con Sheep are waiting for Rush Hannity and to see if Public Opinion can be swayed enough for them to do anything about it.

Btw, you are a Con lamb that is headed for slaughter as deliciously cooked lamb chops for the rest of us.
