Question:
Should Obama be appointing ACLU board members to cabinet positions?

Especially since the ACLU is a terrorist organization.

The ACLU has been working to sabotage our war against terrorism and is working to DEFEND the interests of terrorists. The ACLU is against almost every single move America has made to defend itself against those 9/11 bastards (sorry, that's how I feel) and even provides for their legal defense! Civil rights my behind! We don't HAVE to give these people the same rights as American citizens.
What to heck is Obama thinking??

If you had read the article and others related to the appointment, you would know that the position that Amanda Simpson is appointed to is a senior advisory position in the Department of Commerce. This is not a cabinet position. Her background makes her very well qualified for the position that she is being appointed to.

The ACLU defends the rights of everyone against the opinions of the majority, regardless of politics. Remember the defense of the American Nazi's right to march in Skokie, Illinois back in the 70's. Everyone needs a voice to protect their rights from being trampled by the big government.

The short answer to this "question" is, You're an idiot.

The long answer is, your precious George W. Bush spent 8 years defending the Saudi's, the nation where the 9/11 terrorists CAME FROM!!! Instead, he attacked Iraq which had absolutely nothing to do with 9/11. So essentially, he sabotaged the war on terror more than any single American (except maybe for his mentor, Dick Cheney.)

And whether you like it or not, EACH AND EVERY AMERICAN is protected under the Constitution, even if they are members of the ACLU. Were this not so, we would be living in a dictatorship.

Last, if you read the article, you'd see that Ms. Simpson spent her career as a test pilot for Raytheon... you know, the company that makes those state-of-the-art defense systems and missile systems for our military.

Nice attempt at trying to rationalize your transphobia with a lame lie. Now, make us all happy and go play in traffic.

Give up your rights then, but leave mine alone! The ACLU works its butt off to defend the constitutional rights granted by the once free and mighty USA. Its morons like you who have defiled the very constitutional foundation that built this country. Due to a heap of cowardice and closed mindedness, but it doesn't really matter what you think. The true terror is how easily people like you bend over for the industrial military complex that is trying to convince the population that we are in imminent terrorist danger so the gov will buy more of their war toys...

From the article, Obama looks like he appointed someone well qualified. I know we haven't been used to that but it is a good thing.

The ACLU is not a terrorist group and never has been. They defend the constitution- the very same document the right claims to support.

Listen and learn Zaza. The ACLU is an organization who's sole purpose is to defend the Bill of Rights. They defend all people (Rush Limbaugh) no matter how unpopular they are. It is not about defending "the interests of terrorists" as it is about fighting BIG government against intrusions into personal liberty. Calling the ACLU a terrorist organization makes you sound like a fool. I know it is easy to swallow the tripe you are served everyday on fox and all the other right wing nuttery you listen to but how about visiting that building called the library and reading a few of those square things called books to learn about reality! You sound like a fool and embarrass your family when you come on here and rant about your ignorance.

Terrorist organization? Wow...you really hate the Constitution. They defend rights. Bush gave the exact same rights you seem to fear so much to both Richard Reed and Zacarias Moussaoui - were you whining like this back then? I thought not.

Yes, why shouldn't he be appointing ACLU members.

The ACLU is not a terrorist organization. You don't support the Constitution, you don't believe in our civil rights or our legal, system, you don't know what rights the criminal accused have in our system.

And so you're angry at the ACLU. Because you don't know. So what the heck are you thinking?

Edit: So what you're saying is that a public defender who gets assigned to someone accused of terrorism is also a terrorist? The ACLU doesn't care who the defendant is - the Constitution provides the same rights to anyone charged with a crime. Part of being a country of law is that we don't pick and choose when we follow it and when we don't.

Sorry but your feelings are wrong.

The article states....

"Ms. Simpson has thirty years experience in the aerospace and defense industry. She most recently served as Deputy Director in Advanced Technology Development at Raytheon Missile Systems in Tucson, Arizona."

Did you even read the article or just the headline that says she is transgendered? She sounds very experienced.

LMAO...ACLU = terrorist organization!!! LMFAO!!! Wow, that was FUNNY!!!

You know, without the ACLU, you (as a woman) would be wearing an apron and doing everything your husband told you. The ACLU is about insuring our rights as Americans ... its too bad (and sad) that your ignorance does not allow you to see that.

The word "terrorist" is being flung around FAR too loosely. It seems as though some people use this word (terrorism) to purport fear without substantial evidence.

Fear mongering is a lame and useless tool. Just because O'Reilly came up with it, doesn't mean you have to buy into it.

The ACLU itself, advocates that labeling political advocacy as 'terrorist activity' is a threat to legitimate dissent which has never been considered a crime in this country, and that spying on people who disagree with our government's policies is a tremendous waste of police resources.

It wouldn't hurt. Someone has to defend the constitution.

The ACLU is an organization to protect the rights of the few against the rights of the rest of us. To me they are worthless.

the ACLU is not a terrorist organization.

why are you Cons so afraid of terrorists going to court. If they are guilty, the evidence will show it , and they will be sentenced accordingly.

You are letting right wing radio do your thinking for you.

The ACLU protects your right to say whatever you want, even accusing them of terrorism.

You should thank them.

If you look into this president's administration, you will see that the ACLU fits right in with the rest of them. I believe we are in dangerous waters, very dangerous.

I wouldn't say they are a terrorist organization, though they are not well balanced in who they defend.

No they shouldn't be appointed as cabinet members, too far left.
