I can do this all day long but I think you get the point, at least I hope you do. Guns are the number one killer of children in America.

It's not the guns it's the people. Responsibility is key. But you can't test someone on responsibility. Also I say that we offer an "intelligence test" if you are too stupid to put sentences together then you shouldn't be able to purchase a gun. If you pass that test then they should have a "sanity test" see how sane you are. Just to make sure you don't go postal.

Actually it's backyard swimming pools, traffic accidents, skateboards, bikes, dirt bikes, and screwball parents who don't get their kids medical attention because 'God' will cure them. Percent wise firearm deaths for under 18 years olds is about .005% of all deaths in this age groups. Even one death is one too many, but to exaggerate the number and diminish the percent is cherry picking. Also, a good many of these deaths have to do with children in neighborhoods that have a massive drug and gang problem. It's not a general all over every part of every town problem...it's specific. To get the right answer you have to ask the right question. The question is what to do about gun toting gangsters, not firearms owned by responsible American citizens. Give it a think! No kiddin'!

Um... no guns are not the number one killer of children... I don't know where you got that faulty statistic...

however, it is the parents responsibility to keep those guns well out of the hands of children AND to teach them how to respect a gun and use it responsibility.... I am also a Texan and I don't know any child whose parents (including mine) that have had an "accident" with guns... why? Because we were all taught at VERY young ages to respect the thing... Also we have these little things called GUN SAFES... were only mom and dad know the combo to it... :/

So, you actually believe that if guns are outlawed and all the honest people turn their guns that all gun crime will end?

People find all kinds of ways to kill each other, that's just a sad fact of human nature. But a good start is to teach children about responsibility. Who knows, maybe as adults they will act accordingly and not leave a gun around for a kid to get to.

Oh, you poor thing! Try NEVER!

I guess you haven't heard the old saying "guns don't kill people, people do"?

The responsibility in almost every case is.......where is the adult supervision? Hello, PARENTS????

Then HELLO, criminals, mentally insane, gangs, illegal alien drug cartels???? Should I go on?

To ban all guns form society would mean that criminals get guns and citizens cannot protect themselves. These stories you quoted all have a broader, deeper meaning. Look further than blaming guns! Jeesh

Hi Mental Mike, or whatever your name du jour is today.

Why don't you include all the death's from:

-drunk driving

-illegible prescriptions

-And the number one killer of children in this country is Poorly Run Liberal Cities.

Most gun violence in this country is committed by criminals with illegally obtained firearms.

A change to the Constitution also people who like to hunt, most crimes with guns are hand guns and unstable people if they did not have a gun would use a knife or some other weapon even home made.

Why don't you just go to D.C. and rip up the United States Constitution?

People are the killers of children in America, not guns. Irresponsibility is the killer of children in America, not guns.

If we rip up the Constitution and get rid of guns, people who want to kill others will find another weapon. Where there is a will, there is a way.

Held:

1. The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home.

AS soon as you do away with all Knives, Swords, Razor Blades etc...

And All Cars since people die from Car Accidents, and Planes Since People Die in Plane Crashes, and Water because people Drown in Water ~ then I'll think about giving up my gun.
2009-02-25 12:34:57 UTC
So your suggesting that we should give up our guns cause 5% of the people in America that legally own guns have problems, Thats not smart

What is it going to take to get all the irresponsible parents who can't keep an eye on their kids or control their households out of America?

The right to bear arms is just that...the right to bear arms. Not for hunting purposes, not to kill randomly, etc. Yes, idiots do stupid things. But disarming America is to your detriment as well. The right is to protect ourselves against Tyranny. Therefore, while your argument holds merit...it is not a justification to disarm the rest of us.

Tragic stories, all. But people die all the time from alcohol, cigarettes and other things that we haven't outlawed. Gun control is fine. But outlawing all guns would backfire.

i'm pretty sure murderers are the number 1 killer of children in america.

my guns sit in a vault all day. how could they hurt anyone?

a miracle.

the constitution was built with the guarantee that you can own a weapon. Although the founding fathers did not have murder in mind, without the right to own guns, we subject ourselves completely to our government. If they ever get too oppressive, we would have no way to revolt.

It will never happen. It is ingrained in our culture and what is needed is education in how to keep guns out of reach of those who should not have access to them. Peace
2009-02-25 12:34:36 UTC
What about knives? Children get killed and injured with knives also.

And Automobiles, more children die in automobile accidents than are kill by gunfire in the USA.
2009-02-25 12:33:33 UTC
Well you will get no support from this Liberal. Education and responsible ownership should slow these deaths. I am more worried about our food ingredients which account for more deaths then gun deaths.
哈哈哈 ^_^
2009-02-25 12:32:21 UTC
Changing the constitution? I sincerely hope not! How about good parenting? It is faulty parenting causing these incidents - not the legality of guns. Guns are as American as apple pie and Patton. They are not going away! (Thank GOD!)
2009-02-25 12:33:07 UTC
Tell that to Texans who now have to worry about the Mexican drug war spilling into their state. I have friends who are armed and ready though.

It's the ADULTS who should be hiding the guns. We have a gun safe.
2009-02-25 12:35:43 UTC
Will never happen. Guns don't kill anyone. It takes a finger to pull the trigger.
2009-02-25 12:36:23 UTC
Ask the British what they think about giving them up..

Your examples are a bit lame in that cars kill millions, so we stop driving?
2009-02-25 12:35:38 UTC
When they are all gone the only ones left will be the ones used to control you.

R U Nuts?
2009-02-25 12:34:36 UTC
we will ALWAYS have the Second Amendment

for better or worse..

a tyrannical, fully-militarized police-state. think about this: patriot act, homeland security, TSA, wire-tapping, electronic warfare, the drug war, warrantless searches, ect.

Everyone should be required to own a gun for self defense.

Typical liberal, blames the gun for killing, when actually it was the bullet.

Guns are not the number one killer of children in America,,,, Automobiles are.

Ain't ever going to happen. BTW, I don't own a gun.

None of this has anything to do with guns, check out the trigger.

Guns have no more to do with murder than pencils do with bad spelling.

You can get rid of all guns, but that won't get rid of any killers.
Bruce L
2009-02-25 12:33:24 UTC
Good luck with that. I think it would be easier and better for all involved if we just got you out of America.

That will never happen.

Adults that cannot keep their firearms out of the hands of children should be prosecuted.

They can say "Guns don't kill people, people kill people" all they want, but your links give lie to that literal-minded cliche. Does anyone here really believe a child under 11 would have killed anyone without the facilitator of a gun? No way. No way.

Thanks for posting the educational material.

hey, im a dem and i like guns.
