45 % of Germans call the U.S. a "greater threat to world peace" than Iran. 28 % think that Iran is a greater threat. For 16 %, the U.S. and Iran pose identical threats.
http://atlanticreview.org/archives/299-Poll-45-Per-Cent-of-Germans-consider-U.S.-more-dangerous-than-Iran.html

And according to an international survey of public opinion, British believe Bush is more dangerous than Kim Jong-il.

To be honest, the results don't surprise me at all.

But what do you think? And try to be as objective as possible.

In 1953 the CIA helped overthrow the government of Mohammad Mossadegh; who had nationalized Iranian oil previously under British control . They then placed the shah in power, who supported giving them oil. Later, when the U.S. government realized they didn't like the shah either, they took him out as well and left the country to fix the mess. This brought about anarchy, chaos, and a revolution. The Islamic government took charge and ruined the environment, political state, foreign standing, and other factors of Iran. Therefore, the current, sad state of Iran is almost purely due to the problems the U.S. caused, and when the U.S. protests against the actions of the Islamic government of Iran, it protests the consequences of its own actions. If the U.S. had not started this chain of failures, Iran would be a democratic nation.

Iran has more reason to see the US as a threat than the other way around. In its History Iran never invaded anyone and despite the propaganda they aren't threatening Israel.

The US on the other hand is the only country in the world that ever used Nuclear weapons and adopted a policy of preemptive war which is illegal under International law.

I believe that Bush and Ahmadinejad are both rattling sabers. We pose no threat to anyone now because we don't have enough troops and equipment to defend ourselves we sure don't have enough to invade Iraq. Kim Jong-il is the most dangerous because he can't feed his people. He is more likely to do something out of desperation.

Right now because of bush the industrial world is suspicious and untrusting. We violated international law by invading Iraq. It is different in Afghanistan because we are pursuing the secret camps of those who attacked us. GWB is an embarrassment to this country before the world.

I will not apologize for America even though we have stumbled and made mistakes we always strive to be a greater society. No country in the world has the freedoms we have. I was talking to someone from another country and she said that in her country you could only own a piece of land for 15 years..

look at Iran and their tolerance checklist on different religions? Thats your answer. while you're no longer Islamic-you're ineffective in accordance to them. In u . s . of america you will possibly nicely be despite faith or no longer which you care to be. If women individuals are not donning particular they get stoned etc. The Sharia regulation is extremely risky for women individuals. Iran is an rather risky u . s . to all individuals. No tolerance outdoors of their ideals.

There is no doubt in my mind that strange ideas are more dangerous than big guns.

Now for all of his claims of protecting the American people, Bush is actually motivated to continue the war in Irak for other political reasons which are not directly related to the population in America. These same thing applies to Afganistan, where the war against terrorists has been going on for a greater time after it was taken-over from the (late) USSR.

Consequently it seems to me that what Bush stands for is the stability of ideas through the elimination of terror, a long-term ideal which is not directly related to the danger-level of any of the leaders.

I think USA is a more greater threat than Iran..
2008-05-03 03:20:43 UTC
Probably not - but changes in the future after a new President is elected - i`ll reserve judgement on.

As for the Guardian link, I wouldn`t have it hanging on a nail in the outhouse.

I think that's just jealousy of European nations. Currently... US is more dangerous I guess you could say, but if Iran did get nukes, they would be wayy more dangerous. WW3 Iran vs Israel, then the US will get pulled in and the rest of the world.
2008-05-03 04:51:46 UTC
it's ironic isn't it, the germans tried twice to dominate the planet and failed and they dare to criticize america for stopping them. shame on the nazis.

When Europe is in trouble again, they can turn to Iran, North Korea, China and Russia for help.

Edit: Why the thumbs downs? You don't think Iranians and the Chinese are your friends?

Germans (known for multiple - failed - attempts at world domination) should shut the f***k up when it comes to commenting on our threat to world peace.

US has proven they r the biggest terrorists in the planet! US has killed over 37 million ppl worldwide since 1940 through nukes, sanctions, wars, etc! u tell me who the terrorists are?

the sooner israel and US are eliminated, the safer this planet will be from the 2 most rogue states out there. US and israel are a murderous bunch of aliens sent to earth from satan! they are the sons and daughters of satan. the most brutal massacres of humans have been carried out by americans and israelis that dwarfs the massacres carried out by hitler and the nazi regime! US is the only nation to drop nukes on innocent civilians to kill millions. its written in the US constitution to murder humans, and the founders of america were thugs that comitted brutal crimes in their time and the torch has been passed on to future american generations. US and israel are the most hated nations in this solar system bar none! i hope when china becomes the number 1 superpower in the next 10-15 years, that they dont murder 37 million humans for fun in their reign as the world leader!

The United States attacked 2 nations that didnt attack us. The Taliban did not attack us BTW

and we torture.

Is it any wonder Iran is scared and looking for Nukes to defend itself from GWB?
