Question:
Does obama winning the nobel peace prize put the final nail in the coffin for that prize having any legitimacy?
2009-10-09 03:27:48 UTC
According to the nobel peace prize nominating rules, all nominees for the 2009 prize had to be in by Feb. 1st 2009....only 10 days after obama had been in office......what kind of sham is this? Even if you include his first 9 months in office, what has he done to deserve this? It makes the nobel peace prize look about as prestigious as a Cracker Jack prize...

Last year Europeans - by 60% - said they wanted a "weaker United States." Obama gave them what they wanted. Hence the "Peace" prize.

After the "Prize" was given to Gore to me it had no relevance and proved that it could be bought cheap. Now I see it as totally worthless. If the committee can award such a thing to someone in the process of destroying a country then they owe a lot of people the "Prize". So now we know that we have another group of enemies.

Well, it seems that people have de-legitimized the U.S Presidency because President Obama won the election, and now they are seeking to do the same with the Nobel Peace Prize. Just accept it, congratulate, and be proud of him.

We can fight this insanity by ignoring it. No matter how they try to insult humanity by giving a peace prize to a person who continues the senseless killing and torturing of innocent arabs we just have to ignore it.

The nobel peace prize is bullshit

I guess that they must have known from his campaign rhetoric that he would bring 'Peace in our time'. Now where have I heard that before, and what became of it? I have a dread fear that this man's actions (or inaction) will be responsible for war on an unimaginable scale, so I hope he mounts his prize in his private bunker so that he can gaze upon it with awe as the bombs ignite.

Disgraceful, horrible, sickening....

Am I shocked? NO, of course not. As someone else as already pointed out Al Gore won the thing for the dumbest film in history. A film that has been debunked to death.

Obama has done NOTHING whatsoever and deserves squat. Iran want nuclear power stations not nuclear weapons and even if they do want nuclear weapons why not? Israel have them.

So your neighbour can have a gun and threaten to use it ALL THE TIME but you cannot have jack. The world is messed up and Obama winning this just proves it

President Obama has made many promises but has not kept many as of yet. Awarding him the peace prize after a successful presidency would be understandable but during his first year in office is just plain too early.

It does for me. I will never have any more respect for this prize.

I mean, I have to say it would be rather different had he actually stopped the war in Iraq or Afghanistan, but he has done nothing of the sort. We are not any closer to peace than we were before he took office.

Why must you go to your "hate bag" first on everything?

If you look at this critically for a moment you will realize this is a huge reason why we elected the guy.. Restoring American status overseas. What a bunch of bitter little betties. You're President was awarded a Nobel prize - take a split second to reflect on the positives for goodness sakes.

This is not a game.. You aren't "losing" - liberals are not "the other team"... Grow up. This is real life.

I mean seriously - now you don't trust and hate the Nobel peace prize also? You hate renewable energy, you hate diplomacy, you hate anything that your "team" isn't doing. It's so retarded. And it's overshadowing the credibility and valid points of conservative philosophy. You're shooting yourselves in your collective feet.

So that's the prize I found in my box!

Yep, the Nobel should now be renamed the "Oh Well" award.

I don't think he should have gotten that award. He has helped relations with other countries, but hasn't been in office that long and there are more deserving people out there.

Very good point, thanks for making it.

The slobbering adoration by the Liberals of Obama has no shame.

It's in public and revolting.

At least Monica Lewinsky did it in private.

When a war-mongering Republican wins the prize, then it would be a joke.
2009-10-09 03:32:38 UTC
People are saying he was NOMINATED two weeks after he won, but being nominated and WINNING are two different things, and a lot has happened in between that Europe is very happy about.
