Does anyone agree that having IDF trained police force is a good alternative to citizens having guns?

Getting the guns out of American hands is a good start, that will make America a safer place. Have the police force be trained by the Israeli defense force. The IDF are the best at fighting off terrorists and having the police force being trained by IDF would give criminal nightmares. IDF are the best trained military in the world. These criminals and thugs won't stand a chance.

I didn't know there was a terrorist on every block. Gun ownership is a right. How long does it take the police to arrive on the scene? Too long. The problem with the effort to protect citizens in that way is that it assumes all citizens are guilty.

Nope, won't work. Police work & military work are entirely different.

In fact, the US military does get training from IDF leaders... because Israel has the lowest or one of lowest collateral damage rates in the WORLD for urban warfare.

So while anti-Israelis like to pick, in fact -civilized- military's around the world look to Israel with admiration.

On police work, it's been a problem for Israel that she's been forced to essentially police a war of defense against the Palestinians. The holding pattern of not harming them, while protecting against the terrorists among them... is nearly impossible. It presents extreme, and unusual challenges of combining techniques. It's been a major problem, which much as been written about.

Another problem is that the Israeli police force is missioned separately from the IDF. There are times that IDF or police would need to interfere in a conflict happening between a Palestinian & Israeli territory resident or groups... but that unit is from the wrong branch & doesn't have legal international authority to do ANYTHING. So they find themselves having to stand by and watch the harm, while waiting for the appropriate units to arrive. Negative press about IDF & police sometimes like to use these moments.

For making the US safer, we'll need to look at other solutions.

@Weston

Do you know how misinformed you are? Israelis are in the reserves & don't walk around with guns. Palestinian Israelis CAN serve in the Israeli military. Private citizens of any group can own guns.

Those Palestinians who support terrorism do it because they've been taught not to value their own lives... or to regain honor (because gay, or had affair or whatever). And evidence of this is that they don't value other people's lives either -- or they'd target military - not civilian people having dinner or dancing in a kid's disco-club as their big goal.

The suggestion of overpowering American civilians with Israeli military training or expertise is not a Jewish thing, or an IDF thing. Too much Fox News I hear makes people call others things like 'idiot' and Should on the rest of us.

Considering just about everyone in Israel is in the military, and when you're in the military you're required to have an AK-47 on you at all times, the law that says ordinarly citizens can't carry guns basically just prevents non-Jews from having a gun. That's why Palestinians blow themselves up. They wouldn't use suicide attacks if they could get a gun.

Lol that's a zionist question if I have ever heard one. Guns in law a bidding citizens hands is a right from our founding fathers.
