POSTER-CHILD FOR WHAT IS WRONG

You will simply not believe this. Our 8th District US Congressional representative,
the Hon. Gabrielle Giffords, in a meeting of the House Armed Services Committee,
asked General David Petraeus the following question:
"General Petraeus, what are you doing to reduce carbon emissions in
the war on terror?"

Wow. I had to read, and re-read this several times to believe it. Folks, there are American
sons and daughters dying every week on the foreign battlefields of southwest Asia. The
nation is completely bankrupt and ... quite literally, borrowing 43 cents for every dollar in
federal spending. We have the largest environmental disaster in the nation's history in
the Gulf of Mexico, and we have Mexican drug armies invading our nation. And yet ....
A member of Congress from Arizona's 8th congressional district took
the time to ask our battlefield commander what he is doing to curb
carbon emissions in the war.

Gabrielle Giffords is the poster-child for what is wrong with the US Congress. We are
being led by imbeciles. To the rest of America reading this blog, and to Gen. Petraeus
if this e-mail makes it to your inbox ... my sincerest apologies for the stupid question
asked of you by my US congressional representative. General ... I am sure you have
better things to worry about than carbon emissions on the battlefield. I assure you, as
a registered voter in Arizona's 8th congressional district, I will do everything I can to
ensure Rep. Giffords is voted out of office in November, and I pray you'll get back to
business of fighting the war on terror without worrying about such petty and nonsensi-
cal matters as your carbon footprint in the war.

Yep, another idiot we voted in. What has happened is....politics has

become so corrupt that good, decent citizens won't run for political

office anymore, so we get nitwits running and no good choices to

even vote for. When that happens, of course, an idiot wins. At least

Arizona has a good governor who is fighting for her State. But, it's

hard to beat City Hall (Federal Nitwits in D.C.)

Well major, I share your comments about the misfits in Congress. I also believe that Gifford is representative of many who need not return after the votes are counted in November. I only hope that the damage control for their final two months is effective in keeping them from any further conspiracies.

As a conservative, I was strongly opposed to the Iraq invasion, and only because Saddam was the enemy of our enemy, and he maintained a middle east balance. Having said that, I question the wisdom of 0bama by unseating a time proven field commander like Gen McChrystal. After all, it was McChrystal who commanded the boots on the ground during the surge, yet Petraeus took full credit for its success.

Since McChrystal's removal, the war in Afghanistan has taken an about face, and this is where my skepticism comes in. Is all the bravado about Petraeus real, or is McChrystal the real hero ? Is Petraeus really up for a field command, or is he just a good administrator ?

1. Do you have a cite for that, in context - or is it just more tripe from the right wing rumor mill?

2. Even if true, it wouldn't compare with real nutcases like Bachman, and there are more than a few others like her.

3. Do you have an actual question, or is this just another perpetuation for the right wing echo chamber so that you can give 10 points to whomever agrees with you most fervently?

4. Just out of curiosity, are you the Mark Beres mentioned in the link below?

Yes of course. Everyone knows that the only thing to be considered in a "war" is how many people you can kill on the other side. Who cares if your mustard gas drifts onto the peasants houses or your nuclear bombs leave an area uninhabitable for the foreseeable future? Or your depleted uranium bullets are now causing increased birth defects in Iraq and Afghanistan? And most of all, who cares that the average fighter jet leaves high levels of sulfur compounds in the upper atmosphere, something we've been fighting to get rid of since 1990. Who cares how much gasoline the average Humvee uses?

The only thing that should be considered in a war is how many people we can kill short term, not how many we continue to kill down the line. Because killing people in the short term feels so good!

some time past while, the founding fathers observed that basically the properly to do ought to aford to serve in public workplace -- it required being remote from the family farm for prolonged classes. to attempt and permit for even the lowliest farmer to take part, they desperate that a small stipend could be paid. the foremost word right it incredibly is "small." Serving in public workplace is meant to be an honor and a privilege. What can we do? Get the awful SOBs to pass a regulation requiring everyone whose own wealth previous to taking workplace being extra beneficial than X quantity of dollars, forgo a 365 days's pay jointly as in workplace. eliminate from the gadget the present seniority based pay (and privileges) scale. placed a cap on the kind of years it is simple to hold public workplace AND (to stay away from corruption via impression) outlaw impression peddling via particular interest communities. supply them an identical holiday time allotments because of the fact the army (30 days a 365 days, no longer something extra), to be taken while and basically while the needs of the folk have been met. i'd prefer to determine a regulation requiring all costs provided for vote to be made to stand for my area on their very own benefit -- no coat tailing of particular interest projects (interior the call of expediency). ultimately, all costs relating to pay, allowances, stipends, perdiems and day without work be concern to extensive-unfold vote via the folk -- no longer the elected officers.

What is wrong with every single one of them up there.....on both sides....is that every single one of them is in the pocket and totally controlled by campaign contributors, lobbyists and outright bribers. They are the most scurrillous bunch of scoundrels and scalawags gathered in one spot on this planet.

That being said, it is the fault of every single one of us for not insisting on campaign finance reform more like the UK has. Each candidate gets "x" amount of funds to campaign on...and that's it.

PLUS....we ought to really consider checking around to see if we can't find some instructions on building guilliotines.... as that ought to be the fate of every single "lobbyist" ...which is a "politically correct term" for BRIBER..... in this country.

We spend so much time complaining about the politicians taking the bribes....that we spend no time eliminating those who are paying the bribes. All we need to do to find a lot of people to get rid of is go through the list of all the lobbyists.....

You know, if you added up all the measures that all the politicians support because lobbyists bribe them to support them.....we could probably be out of debt tomorrow...and have a budget surplus again.

AND.... not to be rude....but I do think that the US military probably has a few out-of-date, useless, not used for anything.....but PURCHASED YESTERDAY....that someone in the military ought to sit down with a list of and see if we can't resell all that astronomically priced, but useless military equipment we don't even USE to some other country.

That might help the deficit, too.

You did ask for opinions, and that is mine......however, I am an old woman and a bit out of sorts with all the foolishness and stupidity I see from every branch of government,....including the military....that I see our money being spent on every danged day.

The last military bigwig person I found myself admiring was Colin Powell when he was so appalled by the things he was being asked to do that he quit...and nearly killed him to do it because he so wanted to "do his duty"...

Oh...and that nice man....General Honore "something" who finally went in and got a few results after the hurricane in Louisiana.

I have paid taxes all my life....and ALL of you in government....including YOU....have wasted plenty....

Sorry.....just an old woman fed up as you are.

Yes, we elect some of the dumbest SOBs on Earth, to congress; especially the Democrats.

If you listen to some of them speak, you have to have serious reservations as to whether they can even read. Some believe islands can capsize, others make the wildest statements, etc.

This is particularly true of Democrats. Why do they continually nominate the dumbest among us? Is it that they want control over these representatives? Do they want easily manipulated individuals?

Sad, whatever the case

I think the dumbest, most inept among us, choose a career in the public sector. I'm not saying they all are inept, but a job that entails working for the government, with inflated salaries and benefits, lowered expectations, tends to attract them
