Question:
Historically, how has gun control worked out for disarmed citizens?

Leaders and governments generally fear an armed citizenry, which is why the Founding Fathers gave us the Second Amendment. Defending ourselves from burglars and hunting was a little bonus, but the Founding Fathers intent for the Second Amendment was to protect ourselves from tyranny. Gun control supporters would like the false-flag Batman shooting to act as a catalyst toward disarming the American citizen. Below is a little list of what happens after governments disarm their citizens. How does this list compare to the gun control supporters?

Mao Ze-Dong (China, 1958-61 and 1966-69, Tibet 1949-50) 49-78,000,000
Adolf Hitler (Germany, 1939-1945) 12,000,000 (concentration camps and civilians deliberately killed in WWII plus 3 million Russian POWs left to die)
Leopold II of Belgium (Congo, 1886-1908) 8,000,000
Jozef Stalin (USSR, 1932-39) 6,000,000 (the gulags plus the purges plus Ukraine's famine)
Hideki Tojo (Japan, 1941-44) 5,000,000 (civilians in WWII)
Ismail Enver (Turkey, 1915-20) 1,200,000 Armenians (1915) + 350,000 Greek Pontians and 480,000 Anatolian Greeks (1916-22) + 500,000 Assyrians (1915-20)
Pol Pot (Cambodia, 1975-79) 1,700,000
Kim Il Sung (North Korea, 1948-94) 1.6 million (purges and concentration camps)
Menghistu (Ethiopia, 1975-78) 1,500,000
Yakubu Gowon (Biafra, 1967-1970) 1,000,000
Leonid Brezhnev (Afghanistan, 1979-1982) 900,000
Jean Kambanda (Rwanda, 1994) 800,000
Saddam Hussein (Iran 1980-1990 and Kurdistan 1987-88) 600,000
Tito (Yugoslavia, 1945-1987) 570,000
Sukarno (Communists 1965-66) 500,000
Fumimaro Konoe (Japan, 1937-39) 500,000? (Chinese civilians)
Jonas Savimbi (Angola, 1975-2002) 400,000
Mullah Omar - Taliban (Afghanistan, 1986-2001) 400,000
Idi Amin (Uganda, 1969-1979) 300,000
Yahya Khan (Pakistan, 1970-71) 300,000 (Bangladesh)
Benito Mussolini (Ethiopia, 1936; Libya, 1934-45; Yugoslavia, WWII) 300,000
Mobutu Sese Seko (Zaire, 1965-97) ?
Charles Taylor (Liberia, 1989-1996) 220,000

Because Your Rhetoric Sounds An Awful Lot like The Sweet Convincing Things Hitler Said Before he Banned the Jews from Owning Guns & Then Marched them to Concentration camps & Gassed them to death...

"This year will go down in history. For the first time a civilized nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!"

-ADOLF HITLER

"Ordinary citizens don't need guns, as their having guns doesn't serve the State." ~ Heinrich Himmler.

"Every good communist should know that political power grows out of the barrel of a gun." ~ Mao Tse Tung

1911: Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

1929: Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 40-60 million citizens, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated or starved to death.

1935: China established gun control. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

1938: Germany established gun control. From 1939 to 1945, 13 million Jews, Catholics and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

1956: Cambodia established gun control. From 1975 to 1977, one million 'educated' people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated."

1964: Guatemala established gun control. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

1966-1976: China still has gun control. Another 50-100 million civilians, unable to defend themselves, were killed in Mao Tse Tung's "Cultural Revolution".

1970: Uganda established gun control. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

1990s: Rwanda established gun control. In a span of 100 days in April 1994, 800,000 people who were unable to defend themselves were massacred to death - most by machetes. How many dead, hacked-up bodies do you think were found holding a loaded gun? (answer is less than one)

1992: Los Angeles California, USA. For three days police stood by and watched, unable to stop the rioting, arson and destruction of whole neighborhoods. Yet many Korean stores were virtually untouched - protected by their well-armed storeowners who exercised their right to self-defense through their right to keep and bear arms and who did for themselves what the police were unwilling or unable to do.

Late 1990s: Great Britain established total gun control. Robberies, burglaries and assaults have skyrocketted making London's violent crime rate now higher than anywhere in America.

I agree with most of what you say 100%. I don't, however, believe that most rational people want to "outlaw" guns in general. It is the extreme views of both sides of this issue that make it so controversial. Basically, the NRA comes off as believing everyone should have the right to own a shoulder fired ballistic missile - and the radical anti-gun lobbies won't be happy until they outlaw sling shots and pellet guns. There's plenty of room in this debate for a little common sense - aside from the pride of ownership, there's really no valid argument for owning an assault rifle with a 10 round magazine - it's not an argument of self protection for the legal gun owner, a .357 Magnum or a 9 mil pistol is a much handier deterrent and just as effective with a hell of a lot less chance to take out a few of your neighbors should you have to use it. And the one thing that is not debatable - if we outlaw guns, the only non-official people to carry them will be the criminals - and that's not a very good scenario at all.

You do realize that subtracting census data isn't a reliable way of calculating deaths, right? I'm not saying this for everyone. I'm saying this for Mao and Stalin.

People leaving the country, women not having as many babies as before, these are all counted as deaths if you subtract census data. This differs from the way how holocaust deaths were calculated. The way how they calculated the deaths in the holocausts.....is an approximate based on archival evidence, such as records of executions, and the dead in camps actually recorded in certain bureaus. I mean come on, this is basic stuff, and many capitalist historians even reject your numbers. Originally the number of deaths in the Great Leap Forward was 16,000,000. Then somehow this contained an "error," and was raised up to 78,000,000.

I don't see why socialist countries should be forced to play by a different set of rules. Nonetheless, it's clear that you are here to prove a point which has nothing to do with all of this. I just needed to address this.

Also, for what it's worth, not all guns were banned in the Societ Union for its citizens. I'm not too sure about China....but I know that even under Stalin, people were allowed to carry handguns and hunting rifles.

So yeah, handing out guns doesn't really protect against tyranny, especially when the state has things like tanks and airplanes. Tyranny will exist as long as the state exists.

At least Albania isn't on your list. That would be very bad if it was.

Also, I know about Charles Taylor since that's from my home country. He certainly wasn't much of a leader. However, I don't see how you can attribute deaths from the civil war to him "controlling guns."

It's funny how people still refuse to look at the facts. If the victims of the atrocities listed above had been armed, perhaps a lot of innocent people wouldn't have lost their lives. While completely ignoring these statistics, some people still say that an armed society is dangerous.

The neighborhoods with stricter gun control laws tend to have higher crime rates. New York City is one of the strictest cities when it comes to gun regulation. You need a license just to own a shotgun or a rifle. Handguns are not permitted. To all of those who oppose guns, go drive through Brooklyn or the Bronx late at night. The red lights will never turn green quickly enough.

Obviously the answers here are meant to insult you, and not bring any logical debate to the table. Imagine if every citizen was armed. Alot of tragedies wouldnt have taken place. Then again i cant say how history wouldve changed, because that factor alone wouldve have changed the past 250 years of history. But I do believe if everyone had guns, crime is a little more difficult, and would make criminals think twice if everyone had a holster at thier side. Nice list btw

You forgot about blacks in the United States shortly after emancipation.

People need to realize that CRIMINALS by definition, DO NOT obey the law. So by making all of these harsh gun laws or banning guns, you are removing guns from LAW ABIDING citizens and deny them their rights under the 2nd amendment! Why is this common sense SO hard to understand?!

That's OK you can stay in a country that are so scared of their own shadow they need guns to protect themselves from fellow Americans.

You can even kid yourself that its all in the name of freedom when in fact it is just shows how insecure as a country you are.
