I just noticed today that they are no longer allowing comments on Yahoo News articles.

Why did they decide to do this?

It is a way for them to censor public opinion. Yahoo publishes many left slanting articles and the majority of the comments express the disapproval for these one sided articles. Now they can publish their left wing propaganda without displaying what the majority of people actually think about the articles they are publishing. This is a scary situation.

I haven't been able to comment on Yahoo news articles for over a year now. I received an e-mail message from them back then that said they were no longer letting anyone post due to the poor nature of the comments made by many people. I had personally not posted any rude or inappropriate comments, but apparently other people had, so they stopped the comments for everyone.

Because Hillary Clinton's corruption goes so deep that they won't let us comment on any news related to her

It's been slowly developing for several months now

It started by having to have a Twitter or Facebook account

Noe it's totally no comments

Rigged political system and now yahoo is showing its true colors

I enjoyed the readers' comments. When I came across something offensive I gave it a thumbs down and moved on. Idiots can be educational, too, if you really listen. The anonymity allows people in this PC society to say things they would otherwise hold back. Personally, I would have loved to comment about Brian Williams dramatically false combat story designed to enhance his image. So much for trustworthy.

Just because people don't agree with me I don't want them wiped out. Just because they don't agree with me I don't call them liberal or racist. Now Yahoo doesn't want comments President does want IRA investigated or the death of the ambassador who was killed. President says healthcare insurance IS working and Yahoo doesn't want opinions. We aren't mad men like some comment people say I am only a Democrat voter that voted improperly with another opinion sorry I am not the Tea Party enough of name calling. All my friends enjoyed the comment area on articles and I

think to many articles are one sided. Sorry to see comments go I enjoyed them nuts or not 1/2 of congress is nuts etc.

Comment on I didn't read the articles is not so I read each one completely.

Recently the one about the Queen thinking Kate's dresses are to short Oh My God didn't she learn from the death of Diana to keep her mouth closed.

Kates dresses are fine Kate is fine. She should bow out completely. Tell her son to bow out too. Kate has the legs and the age to wear the dresses.

The Queen should wear longer dresses. Charles should wear a bag on his head. Sorry bad joke. I just thought she was tackles mother in law stay out of it but she wants Charles to be King and the world does not want it. Proof would be if she had Kate and William one place and Charles another see how many would show up to see who?

I learn a lot from the comment boards so I hope they do not do away with them. But they can be greatly improved I would agree.

They should require personal ID verification for account registration, like CBS, CNN, NBC comment sections. If folks are personally identifiable then their comments tend to be more civil and less psychotic.

Also, they should restrict the number of comments and the size of each post more closely. On FOX NEWS for example I think they give you 500 characters max...they are another one that requires users to be personally identifiable.

I remember an article about Korean cars on Y! News. The comments section were filled with racist postings.

Any article remotely related Islam or Muslim, the comments automatically goes off like a barrage of rockets.

Its quite simple. The comment section went from being about logical, intelligent debate to mere trolls running around clamoring for "thumbs down" and wanting to be the "most replied" so they post comments they KNOW will generate lots of thumbs down and comments. The comment section has been full of racist post. Any story about anything turns into a racial debate. The Yahoo comment section is when "Freedom of Speech" goes wrong. Another thing Yahoo could do is allow comments to be screened by a moderator before the comment appears for the public to view. Many news sites have a moderator viewing comments before allowing them. When racist/trolls who clamor for "thumbs down" and lots of comments know their post wont be shown they wont show it. Yahoo could also limit the length of post. Lately there's been lots of post that takes 10 min to read because people want to post long encyclopedias

Yahoo is left leaning shill website for the democrat fascist party. They strongly believe that people will

continue to read their fascist extremism, even those reading cannot give a rebuttal. I no longer spend time on

yahoo other than my mailing account.

I don't think anyone other than yahoo knows yet. It could be server probs or maintenance. Whether it is server related or if they discontinued comments I think they should post an article explaining what is going on,they do have enough readers/users to warrant at least a short article.

They would rather quiet any people who disagree with gay marriage to create the illusion that no one disagrees. Comments will ,be back when gay marriage is not such an issue. Then they will quiet down other issues that do not conform to the states opinion. People do not matter.

Yahoo wants to control the message, without anybody being able to disagree with the lies that they wish to ram down our throats..We live in a free country, but not in yahoo-land.

perhaps because, especially in politics, it appears that the Tea_party extremists, and especially Birthers, had taken it upon themselves to swamp the boards. On such subjects there were no serious discussions going on at Yahoo. You had to go to other news board to have an intelligent discussion.

they must have gotten sick of the cruel, racist, and outright embarrassing comments from a) people who just enjoy irritating others and b) nutbags and miserable cretins.

The comment section was the equivalent of a side of maggots next to your steak dinner. No loss.
2011-03-11 10:44:58 UTC
Not the first time they did this. Troll kill.
2011-03-11 10:42:49 UTC
because they realize the people who comment are losers

Because the people are rising up and Yahoo can't contain them with their paid conservative trolls, so they censor everyone.
