Let's say that a bank was robbed, and a description of the perpetrator was a 6'2" 200 pound caucasian male, is it racial profiling for the police to focus their search on 6'2" white men? If the perpetrator was described as a 6'2" 200 pound African American male, is it racial profiling to focus the search on 6'2" black men? So, if the vast majority of illegal aliens in Arizona are hispanic, is it racial profiling to focus the search for illegal aliens on hispanics?

No, and just to clear that up, that's not profiling because they're searching for a specific individual.

Racial profiling is if you stop someone solely on their race, not including anything else. There are cases where race *can* play into it. For example, if a white male who is dressed really nice is driving in a poor neighborhood that is mostly black, the cop can keep an eye on him and stop him if he's doing something that's considered (to the officer) suspicious. In the same way, if a black guy who is dressed like a gang member is in a rich white community, the officer can stop him based on the way he is dressed/carrying himself.

The officers in Arizona (and all over the US) DO NOT racially profile. They DO NOT abuse their positions. Saying cops abuse their power is like saying nurses beat people up. Sure it can happen... Very rarely. Most officer in Arizona are Hispanic anyway. Plus, according to the 3 AZ LEOs I've talked with, they can easily distinguish an illegal by the way he walks, dresses, and acts when the officer shows up. Not race. Race is coincidence.

It's racial profiling to assume that because someone is hispanic, that they are illegal. If you have substantial evidence that a person is an illegal alien, and they just so happen to be hispanic as well, then it is not racial profiling.

If you look at a white person and assume that because they are white, they must be republican, that is racial profiling. Attributing certain qualities or what-not to a person based soley upon their race is racial profiling.

:::edit - You're being a little ridiculous, man. You asked what racial profiling was; I told you. If you don't like the definition, pull a power-politics stunt and change it. Your comment about being pulled over because of your car isn't racial profiling; it's just plain profiling. Yes, driver's licenses are required to be shown upon being pulled over. I don't really understand your contention; I think you are confused. As far as I'm concerned, there is no problem.

Next time, instead of ignorantly assuming that someone is against you because you lacked the ability to pose a question on the issue you were trying to discuss and received an answer that was relevant to the question you had asked, don't get so pissy.

If they are looking for a PARTICULAR illegal immigrant, and they know that person is Hispanic, then it would be perfectly legal for them to racially profile (although they would obviously need more criteria than that). But if they are just out looking for illegal immigrants in general, profiling would be illegal.

In regard to your response to Commentor, this law has nothing to do with driving. If you are driving, you are already required to produce a license anyway, so there is no issue there. The issues will arise when the police require ID in situations when you aren't required to have one.

I liked Cryme Tyme, they were the new age Los Guerreros. I do agree that if every black wrestler had a sterotypical character then it would be doing to much. R-truth I think is being his actual real life person he just being who he is, he isn't playing a character he's being himself. Cryme Tyme on the other hand was more entertaining but I'm not sure if they were just being a character than being themselves. BQ: John Morrison is an athletic and talented wrestler. He should definitely be in the main event picture but he is on the wrong show. I'm surprised that the Miz is so successful Raw is pact full of big time stars: Randy, Cena, Shemus, Edge, Jericho, Barrett, and eventually Triple H. Should he get a world championship yes will he on Raw unlikely.

Screw cops. I loved when my fiance was stopped although most educated people know being Caucasion (which is the corect way of saying it) is a race. NOT A COLOR! You dumb *** Americans make me laugh. My fiance is American she is "white" because she is Caucasion, but she is olive skinned with black hair, and blue eyes. Dumb *** Arizona cop pulls her over, gives her a citation without even taking into consideration what her backround is he automatically puts an "H" calling her Hispanic. Why the **** and where the **** did this asswipe pull this from???LMAO! Sure enough my fiance ripped him a new asshole when he got suspended, and written up in his profile that he has a history of profiling. The cop was sent back to his Academy. People need to KNOW there is many HISPANICS in Latin America who are blonde, and blue eyed. So,,,,,how can you profile these illegals? Just because you dumb *** "pop tarts" say so? I am from Germany, and my fiance and I make fun of white Americans more then anything because they are so stupid, and silly...lol...."pop tarts" is what we call those weird looking white American men who resemble Serial Killers!! Ofcourse with Serial Killers the white men like Dahmer are let go more then once or twice by the authorities because the "white dude" is such a "nice" guy! Even though, back in his apartment he has bodies all over. Liver, and heart in the fridge, and a drugged up nice Asian boy on his couch who is supposedly his gay lover! Yeah you white folks shouldnt be profiled. Hell thats why you are Serial Killers...you are let go more then once or twice by the cops, and only when the body count is finally 7 and 8..some guy gets loose from the "nice white guy", and only then, they realize "hey, us cops are the biggest dumb shits of them all." End of the White American story! Pop tarts by the way is a word most us people from Europe and elsewhere use to describe white Americans because thats what they eat in the morning, and drink their coffee, and read their papers like the nerds they are....LOL

The two issues that you gave are NOT the same. PLEASE pffft! Why aren't ALL Whites profiled and put into a box like Blacks are by society when Whites do crimes ? With Whites it's made out to be just an "isolated" crime, but with Blacks and many Latinos, it's made out to be "that's how they are". Speaking for ALL of them! Who died and made people in Arizona God? What makes them think that they can harass people who "look Mexican and illegal"???! How can you or anyone else tell who's legal and who ain't suppose to be legal???!

If a white man robbed a bank, it's NOT racial profiling. If a black man did, YES it is racial profiling.

PLEASE! I am sick to death of this!

Did you do a census a decade ago? How did it compare to this census?

The last census had one teeny box that asked race.

THIS ENTIRE CENSUS WAS ONLY ABOUT RACE.

It's the GOVERNMENT that cares. Not us. Not whites, not blacks, not Americans.

Funny isn't it that the President that wants to do away with race cares the most about it.

There is NO profiling going on in Arizona. A person must be stopped for a crime BEFORE he is asked if he is a citizen.

This question is about racial profiling and THEREFORE RACE. The President is ABOUT RACE hence the RACIAL CENSUS.

THE PRESIDENT is profiling with his RACIST CENSUS.

We the American People ARE NOT PROFILING ANYONE!

Man if you can't put this together, there is no hope for the nation.

Question is, can you racially profile Hispanics?

You have some that look purely White (Blonde hair and blue eyes) and some that look Black like Africans.

Physical characteristics of a crime suspect are relevant; however, narrowing focus on latinos just to solve border patrol problems is tantamount to harrassment. One of the primary objectives of our republic is to protect the rights of the minority from the state, and the mob.

Nice false analogy.

Try a valid one instead.

The description is "someone who may be whbite".

The police can then harass any white person they choose to?

NOT.

Profiling takes place when you look at someone from the side, not face-to-face.
