in there somewhere ?

*The New Colossus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

—Emma Lazarus, 1883

That would be more accurate.

In America, we have freedom to subscribe to a narrow version of Christianity and that's it.

i think of that's impressive that we are able to rejoice antiquity. Who cares that that's a statue of a goddess that we don't worship? I see it as a logo persons celebrating our historic previous. the completed international could study the myths and legends of the classic international. I merely locate it fairly ironic that u.s. has a huge statue of the Babylonian goddess of liberty and freedom, whilst they are at conflict with contemporary-day Babylon, now time-honored as Iraq.

i find it very interesting that ms lazarus, a zionist, was the first american to publically call for a jewish state in palestine. i wonder what she really was saying with her poem? i have read conflicting reports that this was a poem she had written, not specifically for the statue of liberty, but it was chosen for it.

Good thing God isn't mentioned or the left would have torn down her down.

or maybe another sign saying "illegal immigration will not be tolerated", but I am sure nobody would pay attention to it, especially politicians.
