Question:
Is America a terrorist nation?
2006-08-02 15:13:01 UTC
Unlike Iraq the US does have weapons of mass destruction chemical and biological weapons and engades in toppleing foriegn governments that don't agree with them. They have a long history of "black ops" where they fly into other countries and "change governments"

They have attacked and killed multiple thousands and in every way match thier own definition of a terrorist country.

So is the USA a terrorist nation? They do inspire terror worldwide don't they?

Yes, Bush Sr. is a terrorist!!! I've been saying this for years.... Thank You!

This is for anyone who tells me I can just leave MY LAND OUR COUNTRY!! I'm part Native American........... maybe you should think about what your saying before you make a real fool of yourself!!! Even if you don't think back that far.......Its still not fair to have such a corrupted government. Our founding fathers are ROLLING OVER in their graves right now. We have lost our way!! We need to take a stand and get the EVIL out!

No your wrong there Pal,The U.S. government are terrorists, not the people of the country.Do you think the farmer in Maine wants to see his 18 year old son get killed in wars for oil and profit? He is probably just realizing that his Nazi president along with the other Nazis in the White house and Congress orchestrated the destruction of the Twin Towers to terrorize the American people into giving up their rights and freedoms voluntarily and allow The Fuhrer George to conquer the world for The New World Order and oil and profit of course.Adolph Hitler once said something to this effect;"The more outrageous the terrorist act commited by the government on its own people, the less likely the people will believe it was the government."

Of course not. Terrorists are defined by America - whoever they say is a terrorist is a terrorist. This would explain why some pretty nasty countries, like Sudan, Congo and the US's best pal - Saudi Arabia aren't terrorists. It's not in US interests, despite the fact that the people may well want a regeime change, and help from America.

Of course America IS a terrorist nation. But then so are lots of countries.

Americans are very cool indeed. It's very essential that we separate a regime or state from people. Does everybody in Iran support Ahmadinejad? Of course not.

But US foreign policy is primarily based on an economy that is stimulated by an increase in arms sales. That worked in some ways in the 20th century but the situation has changed and US is now the most hated country in the world.

Call it the sweet land of liberty while it's a %100 police regime.

No, we are not a terrorist country. We are often asked to give money and resources to under-privileged nations, we are asked to intervene in other country's affairs - and then are blamed for all the deaths and destruction. All other countries want our friendship when they want our money and support, but then (with the exception of Britain) they call us "evil" or "terrorist's" when they find they can use it to their advantage. Until the UN develops some courage the US is the only country that can "unite" the world in order to help their fellow man. We are not perfect, but we are not terrorist.

Absolutely not! Do you remember the movie Spiderman? "With great power comes great responsibility." As the leader of the free world, we have a lot of power. However, we choose to exercise our power to support democracy and freedom. I am very proud of our nation and how our leaders choose to exercise the responsibility that we have towards other nations. Our nation is one of few that has the backbone to support democracy and the freeworld. However, freedom comes with a price. Our freedom took many, many years and the deaths of many, many soldiers. We cannot lose sight of the goal - a world where people do not live in fear of dictators. Someone (some nation) needs to enforce what is true and right. If we inspire terror, it is terror against evil.

The USA does engage in a number of "questionable" scenarios. What makes the U.S. different is that we traditionally do not target non-combatants. We target those acting against our interests, be they security, finance, resource, or other issues which might serve to destabilize our society. We do not typically target civilian buildings, mass transit systems, etc. We warn of our impending attacks and generally try diplomacy first. To characterize us as terrorists would not be a true representation of our policies.

We are only terrorist to the terrorist that are unable to take what they give. So what do they do they complain how unfair America is while they also continue to kill Innocent people. Now if you wish to believe an terrorist then that is on you..... But how many aircraft do we crash into their building... You are an idiot to believe them. But maybe you did not have family working in the twin towers........ P.S. or had a family member on a aircraft that they blew up over Scotland. Soldiers have to take their chance, Because of what they are paid to do. But what did the Babbie's do to them that were in and aircraft that they decided blow up. But they are the first to cry foul when you do to them what they have done to you. So the next time they cry foul I want you to tell me the foul thing that they did to Innocent Babbie's....... Or just shut your foul mouth up.

Based on your loosely defined definition of a "terrorist nation", please name one country that does not meet that definition. Oh, you can't? Well, then your definition doesn't serve to do much, does it?

Perhaps you should focus on the stated motivations.

Hezbollah -> kill all jews and eradicate Isreal.

US -> spread democracy to underpriveleged nations and prevent dictators from killing millions of their own citizens.

Or are you a big proponent of genocide?

You don't like USA -> please leave. We aren't preventing you from voting with your feet. So why are you staying? What was that? Because you like to reap the benefits of living here while you mewl and whine about what we do to create those benefits.

We aren't reckless and unpredictable like Islamic countries and Dictatorships. We won't launch nuclear or biological weapons at innocent people. The US, UK, Israel and France are the only world powers that can be trusted to not ruthlessly kill everyone they disagree with. We have killed civilians but unlike Hezbollah, we don't aim for them or kidnap them and chop their heads off with a serrated knife.

You are way off base buddy. You probably don't even begin to understand the concept of a rouge nation, let alone a true terrorist. I suspect you are brainwashed which I'm finding is a common problem in the mideast.

Yes. I guess they are terrorist in the way you describe it. Others might say that is the American way to defend freedom and democracy and make the other countries understand that that is the only and good way of living.

"If you don't think the way I do... You are against me".

Terrorism refers to a strategy of using violence, or threat of violence to generate fear, cause disruption, and ultimately, to bring about compliance with specific political, religious, ideological, and personal demands. The targets of terrorist attacks typically are not the individuals who are killed, injured, or taken hostage, but rather the societies to which these individuals belong. Terrorism is a type of unconventional warfare designed to weaken or supplant existing political landscapes through capitulation or acquiescence, as opposed to subversion or direct military action. The broader influence of terrorism in the modern world is often attributed to the dramatic focus of mass media in amplifying feelings of intense fear and anger.

State terrorism more specifically refers to violence and threats of violence, embargoes and other forms of terrorism against civilians by the government of a state.

The United States Department of State defines terrorism as, "Premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against noncombatant targets by subnational groups or clandestine agents."

so america is a terrorist STATE...

... I guess it depends on how you define "terrorist"... often it's not associated with a formed government... but almost every country has been involved in some shady doings at some point... if you want to call it terrorism... you probably could under a wider definition of the word...

Thats what the color-coded terror alert level is, out out by the department of homeland security no less. Its only purpose is to get us afraid so that we obey...

we kill civilians and terrorize people with our wmds and conventional air weapons

in the current wars we have killed far more civilians than AQ could ever dream of

our past record is atrocious (we targeted and killed hundreds of thousands of non-combatant civilians in the past 60-65 years)

we are the best, most effective terrorists in the world

US foreign policy dictates the spread of democracy. This is not a secret. US foreign policy acts in the best interest of the US. This is also well known. All countries act in their own self interests. The US does too.

i think we are, i mean if other countries cant have weapons why should we... it seems like if a country doesn't like the UN then they are automatically a threat and then the US makes a big deal and goes in are tries to change the countries gov.

Little boy, your ignorance is showing. Our "WMD's" are for deterrent purposes and we have never turned them on our own people because of their religious or political beliefs. Why don't you try asking an intelligent question next time.

So what do you think, do you think our nation is a terrorist nation? So Americans like to strap bombs to their chest and run for bus's, or hijack aircraft and fly them into a building. Think about your question.
