Question:
Since the GOP is dead set against global warming, do you think they will be against this as well?

The most powerful atom-smasher ever built could make some bizarre discoveries, such as invisible matter or extra dimensions in space, after it is switched on in August.

But some critics fear the Large Hadron Collider could exceed physicists' wildest conjectures: Will it spawn a black hole that could swallow Earth? Or spit out particles that could turn the planet into a hot dead clump?

Remember: "Pseudoscience".

Things that the GOP *refuses* to believe in--because it's not based in their little corner of the known universe. :0)

Of course, I've been following this little pet project for the last few years now (along with the Galileo satellite funding issue problem), and I think it's just too *cool*!

Have you seen the SIZE of this thing? One of its building components *alone* weights 100 tons!

Most republicans don't like science because it's not specifically explained in the bible. If Jesus doesn't say so - it can't exist. There's no room for change or adaptation in the minds of these people. Things have been entirely static for the last couple of thousand years (you know - since the universe was invented...).

aside from the fanatical deniers which you will locate in this checklist, it is approximately being conservative. they think that the data will might desire to be extra overwhelming to justify the financial expenses of taking action, that there remains a threat that the effect heavily isn't devastating to us, that there'll nevertheless be some moderating result and that there is not any ethical crucial to attain this. Conservative viewpoints are stable ones to have besides the incontrovertible fact that it is regrettably the case with worldwide warming that the expenses of taking action will improve dramatically with each and every delay and can be previous our features. for sure it is likewise particularly a possibility that something we do will in simple terms make concerns worse. we are basically on the factor of do no longer something ( conservative view ) and probably die, or do some thing which will fee plenty and could no longer paintings and may even make it worse and probably die. In game play concept, there are basically 4 concepts, of various possibilities which we are in a position to no longer verify. the 1st is we do no longer something and the priority does not harm us plenty, we income from no longer expending components on doing some thing and specializing in convalescing our lives particularly. the 2d is we do no longer something and the effect is undesirable for us and we go through the outcomes. The 0.33 is that we do some thing at great fee to us and we go through no substantial harm, it might desire to have been because of the fact of our efforts that catastrophe has been prevented or regardless of our efforts, that isn't in any respect be prevalent. The fourth is that we take action at great fee to us and a few thing undesirable nevertheless happens. in this situation, the conservative attitude is the only one with a sparkling win yet probable a low threat one on a similar time as the take action will actual incur a fee yet it might desire to improve the possibilities. for this reason the determination is rather based on the weighting of ways undesirable is undesirable. In human historic previous, there is not any longer something to show that it is particularly that undesirable yet in geologic historic previous, there is data that it is totally undesirable and that the present fee exceeds any got here across interior the geologic checklist. for sure, while given a decision, might you opt to pass out battling?

Back in the 1700's, colonists blamed a New England earthquake on the usage of lightning rods. They said God was mad because he couldn't express his anger through lightning, so he sent an earthquake instead. LOL People have feared science throughout the ages. So far, I think the only thing they actually had reason to fear was the atom bomb. Time will tell, as always.

Way to generalize everyone together.

Many people do not discount that the earth is warming just the fact that man can do little about it and that it is part of a natural cycle. But if you strictly read articles from the Sierra Club you will never know that an even number scientists (or more) think that global warming is a normal cycle and then the Sierra Club will have to find another reason to force taxpayers to fork over trillions of dollars fighting nature when we can not win while they drive around in their gas guzzling SUV's and ride private jets to summits and conferences.....

When you start your premise with some BS, non-fact based, fantasy used by left wing fanatics to attain power and subvert the Constitution, what exactly is the point of reading any further. Just another prop for hate speech from the left.

I believe in freedom and self determination. If someone wants to do something like this, good for them. Even if it does nothing, there is value in effort. I can't believe a liberal would even care. Its not something distributed by government for the lazy.

Have no idea what your rant is about.

McCain is supporting the fight against global warming. Here is an excerpt from his web site;

John McCain will establish a market-based system to curb greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, mobilize innovative technologies, and strengthen the economy.

What do you mean "against global warming"? I'm not for or against anything when it comes to the environment. I just think the left has found another do good-er "cause", that cannot be proved, and is using it as a tool to destroy capitalism.

Man made global warming is a proven hoax. This has been debunked countless times. People like Al Gore are getting extremely rich on this hoax as well. It is supported mainly by junk science.

Why would anyone be against real science?

I am very worried about this thing, and I understand the Republicans for being against it (I am against it as well).

Who is opposed to global warming? I think it is a great I idea. I would enjoy being able to sun tan all year long.

We are just smart enough to realize that the crap that Al "I invented the Internet" Gore is selling is a flawed theory.

GOP leaders aren't against science, they just pretend to be in order to protect certain business interests and to fool their gullible followers. This is an impressive device and it will be interesting to see what discoveries result.
