Question:
How Many 'Christian' Democrats Will Shop At Stores Who Refuse To Say "Merry Christmas" ?

Most of them have no problem with the removal of God or Jesus from public buildings , citing their loyalty to the constitution , while dismissing any such loyalty to God . Apparently not seeing that removing God from our society is equivalent to removing the very fabric and freedom on which we were founded .
"Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for the government of any other." -- John Adams
But now we're talking about the PRIVATE SECTOR .

Will You Shop At Stores Which Don't Say "Merry Christmas" ?

We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
And a happy New Year.
Glad tidings we bring
To you and your kin;
Glad tidings for Christmas
And a happy New Year!

We want some figgy pudding
We want some figgy pudding
We want some figgy pudding
Please bring it right here!
Glad tidings we bring
To you and your kin;
Glad tidings for Christmas
And a happy New Year!

We won't go until we get some
We won't go until we get some
We won't go until we get some
So bring it out here!
Glad tidings we bring
To you and your kin;
Glad tidings for Christmas
And a happy New Year!

We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas
And a happy New Year.
Glad tidings we bring
To you and your kin;
Glad tidings for Christmas
And a happy New Year!

I used to work at a store that told us not to say Merry Christmas! I said it anyway. I even wore a pin that said "It's OK to say Merry Christmas". It was next to my "Jesus is the reason for the season" pin. ; )

To answer your question, no, I don't shop where they don't allow their employees to say Merry Christmas.

Ya know, Earnest, I am taking Christmas back a few years this year. We are making presents (we are quite talented in my fam) and not spending hard earned money on junk. I have to pay those hospital bills to help decrease the need for government involvement in healthcare!

My 2-year-old is doing a distressing thing lately. If she sees a picture of Santa Clause she says "Christmas." I have no idea why as I have never put the 2 together for her, so she put them together herself. She is only 2 and this distresses me. Christmas in my home has always been Jesus' birthday. We even make a birthday cake for Jesus every year - my son started this tradition by asking why Jesus never gets a cake on His birthday (he was 3). I am so taking this back and making it again what it was to stop this thought process in my intelligent little 2-year-old.

I also may try to make some of that figgy pudding... Why don't you make a batch and pull out the old records? We'll come by and try it and we'll bring a birthday cake, too! With candles.

What we need to do here is what I have done my WHOLE life!

My best friend is Jewish. I am Catholic. So how do we get together in December???

I celebrate Hanukkah with her and her family (respectfully) and she and her family celebrate Christmas with us (respectfully). I have NO problem with sharing holidays with those of other faiths.

I have been to her daughter's wedding....and yes...out of respect, upon entering the synagogue my hair was covered and my husband put on a yamica. When we meet for lunch during Lent...she goes out of her way to make a reservation somewhere I can get a 'meat-less' meal. We don't have ANY problems respecting each other...and we certainly don't fault each other's religion!

And if everyone stops being so DAMNED PICKY and OVER-SENSITIVE we might actually have some form of understanding!!

Just because a 'store' says Merry Christmas....it means less than nothing...they only do it to attract the Christian mind-set.

Yep for those Christian brothers and sisters who wish me Merry Christmas this year.

I will wish them Happy Hanukkah.

I think liberals getting wound too tight to removing any reference to the Holidays and why we do celebrate this season.

Holidays from Holy Days so there you go.

I'm sorry I thought Christmas was to pause and reflect on the birth of the Prince of Peace not to shop. If everyone stopped the insanity that surrounds the holiday season then it would not matter if a store did not say Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays or nothing at all.

Actually, you have it a bit backwards. I am a registered Democrat & I only shop at stores who say Merry Christmas. I boycotted Target when they got rid of the Salvation Army Santa in front of their doors!

I never voted to remove God from anything in this culture. However, I do find it scary & offensive when Bush says he 'talks to God', & gets his "orders" from Him. That is going a bit too far & has crossed into delusional thinking, & religious fevor. NOT what I need in a world leader.

And, I don't believe I have ever tried Figgy pudding, but if it is made from figs, it is probably good.

When I heard that a few of the stores in my area, last year, had changed their greetings to Happy Holidays, I did not go there to shop.

Ernest - exercising your right to CHOOSE is what this country was founded on. No one is suggesting your right to worship be revoked? No one is going to arrest you for worshiping with your family on the sabbath - so what exactly is the problem? How does someone else saying 'Merry Christmas" affect your Christianity? Why are you giving 2 words so much power?

You asked who would shop @ a store that didn't say "Merry Christmas". I would. If I need groceries, toilet paper, a new dooney & burke handbag - I'm gonna get it.

And how is spending money on presents celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ? How about volunteering @ a soup kitchen or donating the money you would spend on gifts to a local charity. WWJD?? (I don't think he'd be standing in line outside of wal-mart for 12 hours in anticipation of getting the best deals on Black Friday.)

And I don't think he would suggest shunning someone because they don't embrace his ideology? One last thing - how often do you receive gifts on someone elses birthday? How often do you distribute gifts to OTHERS on someone elses birthday? And how exactly does that celebrate Jesus?

I will. When anyone says Happy Holidays to me, I respond with Merry Christmas. I am not going to change my beliefs to be politically correct. I am also not going to avoid a store that doesn't want me to spread my message, which is a wish for a Merry Christmas.

MOST of us have no problem with it huh? How many of us Democrats have you polled, Rush Junior? I will shop where ever I need to and tell everyone in the store I come in contact with, " Merry Christmas". Don't assume you know what is in our hearts. You really need to stop listening to Rush. Get out of his cult, buddy. All Democrats are not anti American, and believe it or not a lot of us are Christians.

Here is a question for you christian republicans. Do you shop or eat out on Christmas? Shouldn't these same stores be boycotted on Christmas. Is it fair to make someone to work instead of spending quality time with their families?

When I was a kid, we used to have about 100 in our choir who would walk through a large downtown department store singing carols...never a problem...I wonder what would happen if we did that now?

Not Christian so I wouldn't shop at a store that has it's own religious agenda. It's a business not a church. I have the right to shop without being accosted by christian propaganda.

PS I already know someone is going to bring up the Christmas thing. My Holiday is Yule and is on December 21. So We don't celebrate Jesus' birthday which was not in December anyway because December didn't exist in ancient times.

Think of it this way, if this is the worst moral indignity you must suffer during the holidays, consider yourself blessed! Happy Holidays and a Merry C*****mas!

i prefer happy holidays personally

even though i am Christian, my church does not celebrate on the same calender as most US churches

so for my the day we celebrate Christmas in the US is only part of the story

btw Saint Nicholas day is on the begining of December, not the end

Christ's birth is in the begining of January

They wont stop shopping....gotta waste money somewhere....

Have you heard the song "We Need God In America Again" by Carmen......I can get you the words if you haven't, just let me know...it seems to correlate w/ everything you say!

EDIT: John A---I do not shop or eat out on Christmas for the exact reasons you stated...but honestly where I live you can not find a business operating....If you need gas in your car you better go the 23rd or early morning on the 24th (as all places close early).......

Wont effect my shopping at all...... Likewise I'm sure that people of the Jewish faith wont demand a store greet them with happy Hannaka..... or the muslims expecting to hear happy Ramadan........ And your quote from John Adams only mentions religious people while totally omitting Christianity..... The Jewish, Muslim, Bhudist can every bit as religious as a christian

Most stores say "Happy Holidays" or "Season's Greetings". Especially the stores who are maximizing their PROFITS by trying to attract as many customers from as many religious backgrounds as possible.

Those stores pushing a conservative Christian agenda are not maximizing their profits. They aren't real businesses, just sort of church outreach facilities.
