My, my! Are we bitter about something to do with Christianity? Or have we been educated in the "gummint" school system and taught that all of the evils of the world can be laid at the feet of Jesus Christ and the United States?
And this "invasion" occurred in December of 1989, nowhere near the date of ANY president's inauguration. Where did you get that useless tidbit of information?
The official United States justification for the invasion was articulated by President George H. W. Bush on the morning of December 20, 1989, a few hours after the start of the operation. President Bush listed four reasons for the invasion:
1. Safeguarding the lives of U.S. citizens in Panama. In his statement, Bush claimed that Manuel Noriega had declared that a state of war existed between the United States and Panama and that he also threatened the lives of the approximately 35,000 U.S. citizens living there. There had been numerous clashes between U.S. and Panamanian forces; one U.S. Marine had been killed a few days earlier and several incidents of harassment of U.S. citizens had taken place.
2. Defending democracy in Panama. (That's a good one!)
3. Defending human rights in Panama.
4. Combating drug trafficking. Panama had become a center for drug money laundering and a transit point for drug trafficking to the United States and Europe. Panama, before the contended 'declaration of war' against the U.S., had instigated no hostile actions against any other country.
And if the Christians in this country had any control over the U.S. government, do you really think that Obimbo would now be president?
And don't confuse American "soul" with the twisted minds of politicians. Those in control of such decisions have demonstrated a definite LACK of soul. And that even goes for someone who would choose a cold-blooded, murdering assassin such as Che Guevara for an icon.
