I try to put myself in other people's shoes

I could never be a Bum, Hobo or Vagrant because of the ill manners and criminal activity they display

how about you?

" I try to put myself in other people's shoes "

" I could never be a Bum, Hobo or Vagrant because of the ill manners and criminal activity they display "

obviously didn't try hard enough. being bum and hobo isn't about ill manner and criminal activity.

to answer your first question, the guy says it's humiliating and then proceeds to cry about it.

I read a book once written by the king of hobos. Can't remember his name right off...Jeff Dennis?

Well apparently hobos are very sensitive to being confused with bums or other vagrants. Hobos distinguish themselves by NEVER looking for something for nothing. Other than a ride on a train (they are the primary train riders). According to this man, hobos will always offer to work for you when they ask for something and will never just beg. They are a breed that has all but died out. In recent decades, policing trains has made being a bona fide hobo very difficult.

You obviously don't know the difference between those three words. A bum is a beggar. A hobo is a traveler that seeks to earn his keep through hard work in return for food and lodging. They have a defined code of behavior that they enforce among themselves. A vagrant is a person without a permanent lodging. The first step in walking in another's shoes is to know about the person in whose shoes you will be walking

Personally I like my local bum. Mr Jerry on Baltimore street. He just dances on the side of the street. No head phones, no music playing but he must have an awesome concert going on in his head because day or night, there he is, dancing.

Bat sh"t crazy too but the law doesn't allow him to be helped unless he admits he's crazy and agrees to be helped. Believe me we all tried but it is what it is I guess. In the meanwhile he'll still be there dancing. He was doing the moon walk the other day, had a pretty big crowd watching too.

Unfortunately, many of these "people" fall under the category of mentally ill, unemployed, and war veterans that have fallen through the cracks of a selfish society that call them bums, hobos and vagrants. Others are hopeless addicts and alcoholics that have lost control of themselves. My suggestion for you to do is, 1) don't label them with these names, because you have never taken the time to find out their individual story. I agree, some of them can get out of line, but, don't judge them, feel empathy for them. Remember, you don't know what could happen to you in the future.

If you want to put yourself in their shoes buy a bus ticket to a town 100 miles from your home and take no money, cell phone or credit cards with you, then see what you do .

They don't choose to be bums and if you were in their shoes you wouldn't either

Dunno, but if your country is filled with bums, hobos, and vagrants, then your society is failing.
