I trust the elderly Puerto-rican woma I pay to keep up the cleaning and babysit my two sons while me and my Husband are on call, more than I would most of the Conservative hillbillies and rednecks in this country!

1st We shouldn't pay individuals not to do those jobs. None of us should feel we're above being productive. Paying individuals not to work causes the wage of people being productive to rise & cause prices to rise also.

2nd since the price of product relate to dollars in the area. Those legally on welfare cause the illegals that are getting paid under the table to be eligible for welfare as well.



The floor created by welfare helps no one. It is just an artificial base.

Two points in response to your question.



First, as I recall, labor unions are very, very vocal in their opposition to undocumented workers. How do you reconcile that with your comment targeting only conservatives?



Second, in the past few years when large corporate businesses were raided and undocumented workers taken away, people lined up to fill the jobs those individuals left open. It seems that two things occurred - first since the company needed to hire people legally they raise the wages they were offering. Making available a "living wage" - a concept that is highly endorsed by Proud Liberal Elitists whenever a minimum wage bill comes up - coupled with the economic times resulted in long lines of people applying for those jobs.



So these are not just jobs that illegal immigrants want to do, they are jobs that people legally in this country would do if the employers don't offer wages that are not fair.



So perhaps the issue doesn't resolve down to a liberal vs. conservative issue, as you so simplistically characterized it.

That's bs, I have participated in those jobs before. With unemployment as it is Americans are seeking jobs anywhere they can, hell 20% of Americans are underemployed.

Also babysitting is not a hard job, there are day cares all over the place, and house cleaning can vary, I've cleaned some dreadful places before.



Also, American are denied these jobs because of minimal wage. Regardless of your thoughts about minimal wage, it does reduce the supply of jobs, so in essence illegal immigrants are not taking jobs from Americans as the jobs they are taking is filling up the gap that were denied to Americans due to minimal wage.
