Is it still too early for Obama to take credit for stopping the BP oil leak?

OH did he dive down and fix it?! Will he now use a straw to suck up the mess?! Yeah and it only took 80 days! Wow what an accomplishment! LOL i'm happy that it has ultimately been stopped! In a speech Obama suggested i won't be able to relax till the hollow is plugged and the mess is wiped sparkling up! when you consider that then he has been on 2 vacatons, with a third scheduled next week and performed 40 3 rounds of golf. while did he have time to do something?!

I dare him to. His response to this crisis was a glaring example of his and the federal incompetence. Skimmer ships held at bay, not allowed to assist. Other vessels not allowed to assist because of some life jacket issue. State and local authorities could not get permission to defend their own beaches and bays from the federal government. Truck loads of useful booms sitting idle and the administration claiming ignorance. Obama didn't even talk to the CEO of BP for six weeks into this crisis. Don't you think that it would be important for the two 'heads of state' to have a little chat about the plan and approach? Then there was his moratorium on drilling by other rigs. More than one rig has since left the region, never to return, taking the jobs and revenue with it. It was as though the administration was actively trying to expand the crisis by their lack of cooperation and energetic involvement. As many polls have suggested, Obama's response to this crisis makes Bush's response to Katrina look down right Herculean.

Yeah, I hope he does brag about this so that the nation can laugh in his face. No event so far has more clearly shown his incompetence, inexperience and ineptitude.

Yes. Apparently credit should be given to an anonymous plumber who sent a diagram to a professor at UC Berkeley. Obama did nothing - except ignore the disaster for several days because he was too busy wining and dining Calderon of Mexico.

It is a temporary fix.. if you actually read the article you may know that. No one should celebrate just yet. And if the problem is fixed why would obama take any credit for that at all? Do you know how many vacations he tried to plan during this spill? About 3. So he doesn't even care about the spill. Secondly when you heard on the news that Obama was down at the Gulf? you must of misunderstood. The news said he was too busy playing Golf!

Well Republicans told us Obama was not doing enough or fast enough but I thought the free market was suppose to fix their own problem so we can have small government and the free market did fix their leak so no Obama did not do enough or fast enough.

"President Barack Obama said Friday the progress was good news, but cautioned an anxious public not to "get too far ahead of ourselves." Obama said the cap was still being tested and there was still an "enormous clean up job" and ensuring quick compensation for Gulf residents and business in the offing." ~ Your link.

It doesn't sound like he's taking any credit at all right now, and instead of spinning it and using this as posturing he cautioned us not to get ahead of ourselves. I see nothing wrong with this.

oh please.

the issue is so tired and rhetorical

I haven't heard him take any 'credit' for 'stopping' the oil gusher.

and he certainly wasn't the Cause of it.

I see you already defended yourself by saying " He wasn't blamed by me". Well then what is the purpose of this question?
?

he shouldn't have been blamed and he shouldn't get credit when it's over.

The effer was using the term, "we" today in his teleprompter reading regarding the oil leak, as if he made any contribution whatsoever.

I'm just glad that it was fixed. I think we can all learn from it.

He's not 'taking credit' for it, he's saying its good news.

No. I don't understand why Republicans blame him for the leak.

Better not be since he's already doing it.
