Question:
Why do liberals think it's ok to make sexist remarks against conservative women?

Ed Schultz from MSNBC just got suspended for calling Laura Ingraham a "right wing slut". In 2008 many left wingers called Sarah Palin a "c**t", and they even made t-shirts calling her that. In 2008 Obama supporters called Hillary Clinton every sexist name in the book, and she's not even conservative.

The left claims to be about women's rights, but how come they feel it's ok to be sexist and misogynistic towards people they don't like or agree with?

The radical feminist movement is usually pretty hypocritical when it comes to issues regarding women.

Whenever a Democratic politician is involved in a scandal regarding women (i.e. Clinton and Lewinsky;; Clinton and all his alleged mistresses), you rarely hear a peep out of NOW.

Many of them do---but Ed is just one person who cannot control his anger. In my opinion, Ed's outburst is really a non-issue. When people do this, they undermine their own credibility, no one else's, as you can see from the responses here from some on the left, he overall doesn't represent their thoughts. What we all need to start doing and NOW is separating ourselves from the politicians. The media frames out the public opinion they want to appear to be represented and we all instinctively go on the attack at each other rather than the people who push the opinion. Granted, there are some on either side who do agree with radical beliefs espoused by the fringes of both sides. However, they don't represent everyone. I wish we could ALL remember this when we go to vote. What would be amazing is if we could manage to organize a rally based on some common, basic agreements instead of the "all or nothing" method we have used. If we all rallied on some common ground such as preserving freedom (eg, Patriot Act just renewed again), reigning in spending (in all areas, don't get stuck in one spot), and eliminating the establishment of career politicians ruining our country----just think what could be done. United we stand is not a corny phrase, it would scare the crap out of D.C. and flush out the cockroaches.

To correct the person who said Ed was immediately reprimanded, that simply IS NOT TRUE. MSNBC didn't suspend Ed UNTIL THE NEXT MORNING, AFTER he had taken HIMSELF OFF THE AIR Wednesday night on his TV show. He made the remark ON HIS RADIO SHOW earlier in the day.

I'd better sign off and go to bed., before I start making remarks about how blind, deaf, and ignorant 98% of the people on YA are. Oops!

Ignorant, paranoid people usually project and displace their own ignorance onto the other person, and then proceed to insult the other person, without realizing that they are insulting themselves. ALL cyber-bullies do this.

I really couldn't tell you, but then again i'm an old fashion conservative gent, and I'm not flexible enough to stick my head where it doesn't belong. I think liberalism is almost like rabies, and was not supprised to find out that you can be genetically predisposed to it. Its so sad. Maybe someday someone will come up with a treatment:]

One guy doesn't represent the entire left-wing coalition

I've never called Sarah Palin or any other women any bad names, so why do I deserve to be grouped with this one guy?

They hate Wemon. Liberal men hate women more than anything. Thats why liberal men like to "enjoy" each other.

Okay let me get this straight... Ed shultz says something, is immediately reprimanded, and makes a public apology.

Therefore all, or even most liberals are sexists?

What the ****? are you actually this stupid?

Maybe we should start making assumptions about all conservatives based on what Donald trump and Glenn Beck say.

And by the way, calling sarah palin names isn't based on her sex at all...

It's not, and we don't. He's just one guy. Ed Schultz is liberal, but he's not "liberals".

"I dare you to name one sexist thing any mainstream right wing commentator has called a women in that fashion".

Dare accepted. Rush Limbaugh and "Femi-nazis".

Limbaugh on Hillary Clinton's 2008 primary campaign: “I don’t know why the B-I-itch is staying in.”

"Feminism was established so as to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream of society." --Rush Limbaugh

Both Limbaugh and Beck call Mary Landrieu a "whore":

And let's not forget Ann Coulter calling John Edwards a "f****t" (and refusing to apologize for it, ever). Goes both ways you know.

Why do you think Ed Schultz speaks for all liberals? He's one person. WOW. Have you heard right wing commentators ever?

for the same reason conservatives like to make racist jokes about obama

We as human beings are still too primitive to look past gender and ethnicity

that is why we need a good ol outer space alien threat to make us let go of that B.S.

I'm liberal. I don't think it's okay.
2011-05-26 23:51:13 UTC
He was suspended. That means his bosses think it's NOT OK!
?
2011-05-26 23:50:12 UTC
Because Ann Coulter did it first.
