No. It's just provided medical care paid for by the state.

Technically, we do live in a "socialist" country. Socialism just means an economy with some regulation. Capitalism is where there is no regulation. Communism is total regulation.

When a government controls every aspect of its peoples' lives, that's not "socialism." It's called totalitarianism.

I would be willing to pay a little more every year in taxes if I knew that every time I went to the doctor, it wouldn't cost me anything.

I think in theory it sounds like a good idea. Problem comes when we decide how to fund it, who will provide the care, how much those people will make... It's not as simple as it sounds. I think if they want to do this whole healthcare thing, they should scrap what they have, start over from scratch, and make a publicly-funded healthcare system, with no porkbarrel BS attached to it, and actually come out and be open about it like Obama promised his presidency would be. Instead it's all done in secret, with **** attached that nobody knows about.

No.

Socialism would involve a single payer health system. If the reforms pass, and God willing, they will, then people will be in an insurance run system, but one where the insurance companies can no longer use death panels to drive up profits by denying care.

It surprises me that so many Americans seem not to be aware about Obama’s healthcare plans [a]. During the election, he campaigned for these changes stating that he felt it was unfair to have a system where insurance companies try to escape paying claims and was elected to bring in changes [b].

First of all, too many people do not know that Obama wants to make insurance more available to all. His system is similar to that which works in Holland, Taiwan [c] and Switzerland. It works there and private healthcare companies provide most the insurance to the people there.

FACT - the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet [d].

FACT – insurance companies admit that they push up costs, buy politicians and do not pay out for many claims when they should [e].

FACT - the US has higher death rates for kids aged under five than western European countries with universal health coverage [f].

That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, France, the Netherlands, Cuba, Switzerland, Germany, Japan etc, all of which have universal health coverage. And no western European nation with universal healthcare has moved away from it. And the sad thing is, that the insurance companies have spent loads of money to fight these reforms [g] and loads of politicians are taking the thirty pieces of silver from them to fight the reforms, rather than fight for the health of the American people.

Remember, I back my facts up with evidence. Those who say they are wrong tend not to. If they are wrong, e-mail me with proof and let me know.

What ever you say. Better be careful or when we open up those concentration camps you could be first. Oh I think some one is at your door. Just be real quiet. I'm sorry. I shouldn't play with the emotions of a paranoid, delusional like you...Here is my suggestion. Find out what Socialism is then look at the health care bill and see if you can find anything that is even remotely similar to Socialism. Then get rid of the disgusting, offensive, racist Avatar of yours. Such hatred and delusion is not good for you.

No way!! Look at socialized public education. Look at how brilliant our children are. People stood in the way of social education also. They failed. They said this was just a way for the government to tell us what to teach our children. How stupid. People had major problems with social retirement or Social Security as it is known, and look at how wonderful that is. There is a large fund that gains interest every year and it will never run out. Trust your government to provide for you. Coming up we will have socialized income for all. I can't wait.

YES! Embrace it. Socialism works well for the rest of the world. At least they, in the major industrialized nations not letting all their people die on the streets and denying them healthcare. Live in the hate. I choose positivity and Liberty and SOCIALISM for all....

I do not think the word SOCIALISM is in the Constitution as being banned.

It doesn't even have a public-option.

It will be gov't. subsidised private healthcare.

Basically, State Capitalism.

We need the public option already.

No. Obama doesn't care anything about turning the US into a socialist nation. He's not a socialist. He's a social democrat. There is a difference. Here's info on their goals, straight from their website. It sums Obama up nicely.
