Facts on the war on drugs:

http://civilliberty.about.com/od/drugpolicy/p/War-on-Drugs-Facts.htm

"According to an October 2008 Zogby poll of likely voters, 76% describe the War on Drugs as a failure. In 2009, the Obama administration announced that it would no longer use the phrase "War on Drugs" to refer to federal antidrug efforts, the first administration in 40 years not to do so."

Both Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter have come out against the war on drugs.

Hopefully Obama can start the process, how would you like to see about change in the way we handle drug use in America?

Do drugs, hang them. They won't do it again.

The Obama administration is less socially liberal than they're passed off to be, so I don't expect we'll be seeing any new policies this cycle. My advice is to start electing libertarian leaning politicians; Rand Paul seems to be leading that movement now that his dad is out of the game.

"Bring back the death penalty for anyone selling drugs.

Life in prison for anyone buying drugs."

Draconianism and big government, always a good way to lose control of the populace; I will be severely disappointed if anyone actually thinks this is a good idea.

I believe ending the war on drugs calls for decriminalizing all drugs by the way; sure cartels also sell weed, but they make most of their money from heroin and cocaine, so we'd really do nothing to hamper their profits.

Too far, you say? Let me put it to you this way. People were convinced during Prohibition that booze was the devil's drink. We legalized it anyway. How many alcohol dealers do you see today on the street? What about the dreaded alcohol cartels?

Checkmate, prohibitionists.

The war was doomed to failure from the start. It tries to stop the drugs from coming in, but does nothing to stop the real problem. That is the people that are using the Drugs. No help for them, no help to fix the problems in their lives that leads them to use drugs. Its like trying to stop a building from falling down, but ignoring the person running around knocking out the walls.

I think we should legalize the soft core drugs like marijuana, regulate & tax them. (We should also continue to allow employers to drug test and terminate if they do not want their employees full of THC at work.)

Hard drugs are more difficult to deal with, many are so addictive that we would likely have greater problems with rehab than we do today. I think we will have to continue to say no to them.

Legalize it like marijuana and tax it to kingdom come

Alcohol is destructive cocaine is destructive marijuana is just a plant but has the power to be psychologically self defeating etc.

Put in mandatory drug testing at all major jobs....you'll be amazed at how many people will stop doing coke if they will get fired from their jobs even if its legal

You can't be around schools with it you can't sell it to children etc.

No more cartels no more police officers wasting precious resources that could be used on actually protecting and serving and not wire tapping grow houses and raiding all these nickel and dimmers and filling up neighborhoods full of people in our prisons only to have them return to those communities as felons with no way to move forward with their lives and thus resorting to crime

War on drugs is a fail, waste of time and money

Just legalize drugs or don't bother with trying to control it.

Any of those dumb politicians learn anything from History class in elementary school? Prohibition ring a bell?

end it by making them legal. i don't remember the country but one took that approach and the number of people that use is the same as when they are against the law. now they treat instead of imprison. and it works out so much better way lass crime.
