is iran a threat? Not as much as i believe george bush is, if we keep giveing away our freedoms due to fear we will loose every thing that made us americans. It was once said our greatest fear is fear it's self. if we did not cause other countries to resent us due to our foren policies we would have nothing to fear in the first place, it takes two to tango. the way we live in america may be right for americans but people have a right to run there contries the way thay want to. it may not be our way but it is just as right for them as our way is right for us. do you not think that iran sees the usa as a threat? opinions wanted.

I agree with the gist of what you have said - we should keep out noses out of another country's internal affairs if it isn't truly a threat to the U.S. Therein lies the rub. The Exalted Grand Pubah, Mr Bush, wanted to one-up his dad (I didn't vote for him either) and finish the job he started. What happened was an Islamic world that now has a common enemy, us. The fighters coming into Iraq from Syria and Iran are composed mainly of non-Iraqi soldiers. This is not government rhetoric, it is from our soldiers' blogs. I am a former Marine and served in Viet Nam. We were wrong then and did not learn from the lessons of Korea. We continue to not pay attention to history. I am an isolationist. We should take care of our U.S.-born citizens first. I don't like my tax dollars and the money I give to my church used outside of my country.

Don't be an extremist. Everything in life is a balance between extremes. We of course have to balance security and freedom. When have we NOT given up some freedoms for security? Do we not need the hassle of locks and keys on our doors? Expensive and time consuming virus protection for our computers? Look at all the energy and we have to expend dealing with contracts and lawyers where handshakes once sufficed? As dangers in one area increase, so does the balance of security and freedom. It is necessary that we move to counterbalance the situation.

Causing others to resent us? That's a load of crap. The more a person or country accomplishes and the bigger they are, the more people will resent them-- that's just a fact of life. The more you DO, the more cause you effect, the more people will find not to like about you. Abraham Lincoln had a HELL of lot of people resenting him. Should he have just shut his mouth and sat on his hands?

Fuc* you all. Nothing more reasonable could have been said. If this wasn't reasonable to most people-- good-- the world deserves to die.

I think everyone who isn't on our good side sees us as a threat. We could wipe out all living life in China with our nuclear bombs in a few minutes. We have more military technology than any other country in the world. On their positive side, the majority of America is becoming more and more pacifistic. Iran does pose a threat but only if they mobilize. They have nuclear weapons, they have the most insane prime minister in the world, and also fund terrorism.

The reason why people don't like us much is becasue we've gone away from the original American way of life. The original way of thinking. If you look at some of the policies that are being proposed (socialized medicine and others), we're becoming more socialistic than ever.

Obviously so. It's a done deal. Of course, it helps to rationalize everything away as "necessary" or "not so bad" or "that's the way it works". And if all else fails, ignore the argument and attack your opponents - remember, "two wrongs make a right", and as it says in the Bible, "Do unto others whatever you want - they'd probably do it unto you if they could, anyway."

And remember the guy who said "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself" sent 120,000 Americans to concentration camps because of fear of their race in 1942 (Executive Order #9066)

He also instituted Wiretapping(Including on his own wife)

Censorship of the press

Censorship of Mail

Illegal arms trading

Sent serving Officers to china as Mercenarys in chinese uniform

Ordered US Navy ships to sink upon sight any German Submarines spotted in the Atlantic 7 months before Germany & the USA were at War.

Made deals with Organized crime to control the unions (Operation Underworld)

Rationed Food & Gasoline, Clothing.

Change FDR to GWB and you moonbats would be shrieking about it.

P.S> See, I knew the moonbats would hate that answer. The reality is that Liberal Democrats have committed the most egregious violations of American Civil rights since they went to war against the Union to keep theri Slaves in Bondage.

Who voted Overwhlemingly against the 1964 Civil Rights Act- Democrats

Y'all are stuck on stupid......

it's all about control. the more that the threat is inflated, the more that we can be controlled.

the poster above me once described the neo conservative movement's intention as anarchy for themselves, while they impose absurd control on us. the more that we are controlled, the more that they can run roughshod over us. they control our individual freedoms and rape and pillage us economically.

The conservative ones are. They accuse us liberals of wanting a "Nanny State", but IMHO, they want a "Big Daddy Government" to protect them from the bullies....not realizing that that type of "daddy" will also restrict their freedom.

I, personally, have all the same freedoms now that I had when I was born 44 years ago. But, then again, I am a realist. And thanks to our president, I have more security now than I did under the 8 fruitless years of the Clinton regime.

Iran makes "Death to America" a daily rant in their politics but I am sure they are just teasing us. Their 14th century religion and desire to inflict it on the world are nothing compared to the evil Christians like George Bush who want to actually protect people's freedom.

Please point out ONE less freedom you have now that you had 8 years ago.

Free speech zones? Where has there been implemented a free speech zone?

Warrentless wiretapping on international calls has always been a muddy issue. I don't think its quite fair to claim you had a right to them.

To above poster.

Warrentless wire taps.

Conservatives are willing to give up freedom for security, but liberals aren't.
