Question:
Is this the first step to outlawing republicans, conservatives, libertarians, etc...?

Obvious attack on anyone against big government, especially people in the military...

A newly unclassified Department of Homeland Security report warns against the possibility of violence by unnamed "right-wing extremists" concerned about illegal immigration, increasing federal power, restrictions on firearms, abortion and the loss of U.S. sovereignty and singles out returning war veterans as particular threats.

The report, titled "Right-wing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment," dated April 7, states that "threats from white supremacist and violent anti-government groups during 2009 have been largely rhetorical and have not indicated plans to carry out violent acts."

However, the document, first reported by talk-radio host and WND columnist Roger Hedgecock, goes on to suggest worsening economic woes, potential new legislative restrictions on firearms and "the return of military veterans facing significant challenges reintegrating into their communities could lead to the potential emergence of terrorist groups or lone wolf extremists capable of carrying out violent attacks."

I hate to break it to you, but this assessment of right-wing extremist groups had long been in the works under the previous Bush adminstration. This is nothing new, despite the blowhard conservative punditry's insistence on it being so.

EDIT: Stonehudson's response is so chock-full of historical inaccuracies:

First of all, the Democratic Party predates the Republican Party by 26 years. Strike one.

The original Manifest Destiny was devised before the GOP even existed. (The revived 1890s version dealth with American expansion into foreign countries.) Strike two.

The abolitionist Republicans were deemed "liberal" for their time and today's modern Republicans have no ideological connection to them, whatsoever, just as today's Democrats have very little resemblance to the pro-slavery conservative "Dixiecrats" of yore. Strike three. Stop spreading revisionist tripe.

I read the document. It's pretty disturbing that Homeland Security is now targeting it's own citizens. I guess we're going to be the "new terrorists"

Liberals are nothing more than fascists. Plain and simple. They do not allow dissent.

Think. How can you outlaw the Republican Party? It is Americas oldest political party. The Republicans built this nation. Republicans were against Slavery, they led the Union Army to victory in the Civil War. Republican Presidents oversaw Manifest Destiny. The Republican Party is here to stay. Sorry, but from your point of view you'd like the Liberal Democrats to stay in power beyond 2012 but that will not happen. The Republican Party is coming back one day at a time.

It infuriates me that these people are grouped with the "right wing". These people are "wing nuts." They do not share the conservative or republican ideology. We are peaceful.

“First they came for the Communists, but I was not a Communist so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Socialists and the Trade Unionists, but I was neither, so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Jews, but I was not a Jew so I did not speak out. And when they came for me, there was no one left to speak out for me.”

Every "thinking liberal" and "thinking conservative" should remember those words by Dietrich Bonhoeffer. As George Bernard Shaw said, "We learn from history that we learn nothing from history." As George Santayana said, "Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it." As George Wilhelm Hegel said, "What experience and history teach is this -- that people and governments never have learned anything from history, or acted on principles."

This government will do anything to remain in power (Repuke or Democrap). The "two-party" system is nothing but an illusion designed to divide the American people so that it (the State, government--whatever you want to call it) remains in power. If a class of people is declared to be a "terrorist class" then this government will have "extreme difficulty."

Edit:

I see those who've given me a thumbs down are the fascist bastards who are nothing more than cowards and are ignorant of history and are arrogant in their beliefs.

The way they talk, it wouldn't amaze me. They have no party, no leader, etc, and their conservtive base is diminishing.

Most of the people that follow limbaugh, hannity beck and the like should be classified as terrorists.

They promote civil unrest via hate speech.

So, either you want Homeland Security to protect us from terrorists on our soil, or you don't.

The cop-killer in Pittsburgh fits that profile to a tee. I bet there are lots of people who wish Homeland Security had stopped him!
