Question:
What would stop the US Army from controlling the American government and population similar to Rome?

Before Rome's collapse many things happened. According to what is common knowledge, Rome was completely ended but before its complete collapse the Roman army took control of the Roman senate. And the army ruled and controlled power for many centuries. Drawing a parallel from Romes demise to America, if indeed America is in demise, could the USA Army gain control of America all legislative function including the senate? If so how could this be done and how could it be sustained and who on earth could stop them? Also, while Im asking questions, the military industrial complex is a known ongoing model of control so has what I am asking already happened?

My question is based on history and probable fact. Fact: America is similar to Rome. Rome collapsed but before it fell the Roman army had control and took over the establishment.

Could this happen in America?

Not as long as the people are allowed to own guns.

The Roman soldiers were revered and feared by the populace long before they took over Rome. Soldiers in the American military today (for the majority) do not have that "I'm better than you, fear me" mentality. I do not believe that you could convince the military, as a whole, to occupy and rule the United States.

A fascist (that means military for those not braindead - it has surprisingly little to do with "forcing healthcare down people's throats" - lol!) takeover is always a danger in any free society. The people and courts need to be vigilent.

Won't happen - they now know that China would be forced to send in their army to protect their investment.

The soldiers in the army would never allow that to happen.
