Question:
True or false: Colin Kaepernick is basically the Muhammad Ali of my generation?

So I'm 28 years old and I never grew up in the 60s or 70s, but what I'm witnessing from Colin Kaepernick is shades of Mohammed Ali.

Muhammad Ali willingly gave up his prime years of boxing in order to stand up against the Vietnam War. That's right. He refused to become a soldier and fight for a country that hated black men.

Sound familiar?

Kaepernick refused to put his hand on his heart for the national anthem and he was similiarily forced to give up the prime years of his chosen profession.

Both are African American men. Both sacrificed their fame, fortune, and careers all for the cause of peace and justice.

I'm not saying he's on Ali's level, but I feel like he is to us what Ali was to baby boomers.

Would you agree or disagree?

What's always amazed me the most is how often the right was more offended by Kaepernick than the events he was protesting against.  A cop shooting a man sitting peacefully in his car following that man telling police (as per the law) that he had a gun... Well, mistakes happen.  A black man kneeling peacefully... HOLY HELL KILL HIM WITH FIRE!

He's not far off. I have more respect for him (granted I think sports are stupid in general) than most football players. Tom Brady deflated a ball and he's sucking off Trump I know that much. Colin Kaepernick doesn't cheat as far as I know and he addresses the real issues in America. Police brutality is becoming a huge problem in America and even in the state where I live and I'm f*cking white 😂

Where I live there are cops everywhere and they constantly try to do illegal searches and there is a huge amount of crooked cops in a department in the town next over, I know because I've actually been forced to deal with them. But no, the real problem isn't these cops who think they're above the law, the real problem is someone wants to kneel during the anthem.

He is no Ali.. he is nothing really.  Just a spoiled black boy who thinks he alone should get special privileges.  He doesn't like America, so go play football somewhere else.. oh yeah, no where else wants you.  Besides.. he's really not that good!

False. The black lives matter movement was initiated by jews because liberal americans criticized israel during the hamas/israel conflict of 2014. If the hamas/israel conflict had not have happened the the BLM movement would not have happened. All black people involved in the BLM movement are just stooges. Ali is remebered for boxing and the brain damge it caused him.

Ali beat people up for a living, but he refused to kill anyone, that's all. I don't see Kaepernick's thumbing his nose at America as being in the same category.

I don't know if I agree completely, but I can see your point and it's a pretty good comparison.

No. Becuase when Muhammad Ali lost his career, he continued to advocate for his message.

When Kaepernick lost his career, he stopped advocating his message and now only cares about getting back into the Leage. He hasn't said anything about his message against "Police Brutality" since he was let go and no team wanted to sign him. What Kaepernick did was nothing but a publicity stunt that fail. Don't forget this is a man who was calling all police officers "pigs". And wore socks that said "Die Pigs". While at the same time directing is message in a racist way towards only white police officers. Kaepernick tried to play into the liberal message and it backfired on him.

And again what is Kaepernick doing right now? He's not advocating his speech. He only cares about getting back into the league and making Millions of dollars again.

There's a world of difference.

Ali protested a war. Fine.

Kaepernick is disrespecting the US government because he doesn't like what local governments are doing. These are my problems with Kaepernick:

1) The US government is not your local police department. If you want to protest, protest against the groups you are actually mad at.

2) Without people like Thomas Jefferson and his protege Madison,  Kaepernick would be a slave right now instead of earning millions for his mediocre talent.. Why protest the people who did so much for you?

3) His position as NFL player is not the proper platform. If I tried to take an extremist political position using my job as the platform I would get fired. Pretty much everyone would too.

Kaepernick is an entitled d-bag.

This White, female "boomer" agrees with you.  Americans must stand together, with Colin Kaepernick, against institutional racism.  I look forward to watching Colin play again.

It's great to avoid the Vietnam War. I agree.

Kaepernick is so correct about black people being oppressed in America. They are so much poorer and more violence-stricken in America than in other places.

I couldn't agree more. Colin Kaepernick is a revolutionary figure in today's fight against white supremacy, white nationalism, and the conservative NFL which clearly hates black men just like the US government hated black men back during Ali's time. Well, this is Kaepernick's time. I stand by Kap.
