Don't you think this is a great idea?

Today Obama proposed a fiscal audit of every federal government department, including the pentagon, to see where the money is going and to get rid of the spending where it is not needed and to get money to those areas that are more important. He says we taxpayers have the right to see where our tax dollars are going and that government should be more accountable to the tax payer. Obama said he wants to audit every government program.
"If it doesn't work, fix it or eliminate it," he said.

The president, any president, is nothing but an errand boy for the military industrial complex. Despite big promises and novel ideas, there is no reason to believe that anyone elected from a corporate sponsored party will actually be any better on delivering said great ideas. But, it at least does sound like a rational, intelligent concept...given Americans long history of electing idiots, this kind of thoughtful proposal might actually reduce Obama's chances of winning. People who are too smart apparently frighten most Americans.

He sounds like he's trying to win over some more voters who are still undecided.

If this were a true campaign promise, though, then the movers and shakers in Washington will never let his audit get out of his office. They will find a way to cook some of the books, immediately move appropriations into "good" accounts temporarily, or just block the "Auditing Team" from getting into the front door.

Well an audit is not a bad idea, but there Obama goes again showing us his inexperience of government. He will have to fight Congress every step of the way because Congress holds the purse strings, not the President.

We already have the Congressional Budget Office. So Obama wants to create a duplicate of what we already have. Congress doesn't heed the CBO now. A new tax for a new bureaucracy

Obama said that!? Do his puppetmasters know that came out of his mouth? It is a great idea in theory, but it's already supposedly being done. Paying one government worker to do the job of zero is bad enough, but paying two government workers to do the job of zero is something I'd expect from him.

Heard this before and it never works. Sounds like a wonderful idea, but it's almost impossible to accomplish. He's just being a demagogue, just telling you what you want to hear. Just like McCain saying he'll crack down on pork barreled spending...

great idea, but it should be done by a private company. the government should not audit itself.

He sounds like a retard. We have several agencies whose full time job is to do just that. Typical mouth noises from a man without a plan.

In addition, he can't eliminate any agency without the approval of congress. Please feel free to list the accomplishments of that fine group of idiots the past two years.
