One of the evening newscasters finally voiced what many believe, coming as it did right after Pres. Ford was buried but not aimed specically at him but these libraries and museums to house their stuff has gotten out of hand and if a million visited them, it doesn't begin to compare to the cost of building each one.
It seems to be a case of self-idol worship. give your honest opinion please. Thank you

I believe that the presidential libraries, they belong to the government, not the president by the way, should be paid for with taxes but I believe that they should be modest, covering the presidential term and a little bit of personal information. I believe this because this is American history and right now most of the moneys are coming from overseas interests.

Supposedly, the presidential library is a repository of all the important papers, photos and documents during a president's term in office so that those in the future will have it available for research. Obviously, in Bush's case, such an expenditure will not be necessary since they can get all his important doodles and drawings into the back of a pickup truck and have room left over. They would probably even have room for a copy of My Pet Goat. For presidents who were intelligent and had a worthwhile administration - I have no probably with preserving the historical legacy of their administration. Better my tax dollars should be spent on that than bombs and bullets. Perhaps Bush can get his big oil buddies or Halliburton to foot the bill for his since I have some problems with my tax dollars going to preserve anything relating to him.

Our usa oftentimes calls for massive economic factors to make a run. which potential both being wealthy or with the flexibility to cajole donors who're wealthy that you've a shot. that is a area. EDIT it truly is going to also be said that, in a Parliamentary device alongside with contained in the united kingdom, you may change into suitable minister by creating coalitions with different Ministers. The party (or a coalition of activities) has to win nationally, inspite of the indisputable fact that the guy Minister really needs the help of the party. the yankee Presidency is a thoroughly separate workplace. That creates a diverse dynamic. EDIT slightly bit minutiae. contained in the 1970s, physician Who change into between the most generally considered television series contained in the united kingdom. The thoughts taking position in the global were meant to ensue contained in the "close to destiny" (probably the 80s). the nature Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart (an previous style, chauvinistic, "guy's guy" if there ever change into one) has "the PM" on the phone. The actor Nicholas Courtney (taking area in the Brigadier) keen to ad-lib and suggested "sure, Ma'am". change into this foresight? change into it symptomatic of a extra well-known British thoughts-set? Or might want to Courtney actually have inspired human beings, with that one small decision, to entertain a concept they could not have considered earlier? after all, this change into the Brigadier, shoot first and ask questions later, in case you spot an alien, do not attempt to comprehend it: BLOW IT UP! And he change into quite prepared to take orders from a lady! interesting.

It should be split to some degree; while former presidents shouldn't use libraries as an oppurtunity to splurge and glorify themselves, they can't be expected to foot the bill entirely. These libraries house documents, records, and other gifts that the President had no choice but to accept/generate. Their job demanded that they recieve daily reports and memos; it's not their responsibilty to preserve them for the American people.

I believe there are things we must do as a nation-one of which is honor those who have served as President with some type of memorial. I do not know why a library has become the "thing", but since it has, so be it. The expense is such a miniscule part of our entire budget, it isn't worth haggling over. So we'd build 5 or 6 in your entire lifetime-no big deal, and we get a library out of hte deal.

I wonder what's to fill GWB's library--picture books?

To show you how totally out of touch with reality Bush and his fans are, Bush has said he expects to raise HALF A BILLION DOLLARS for his library.

The most expensive library ever.

Now, who do you think the big donors will be?

I do not support the idea of each president having an expensive library built at our expense. I don't know how many of them get visited each year, but it seems like kind of a waste of money.
