Darn it, my FOIA Request was denied. What do I do next?

I requested a list from my city clerk of all the Convicted Burglars, Armed Robbers, Rapists and Child Abusers in my city.

They told me no, it would infringe on their rights to privacy. That they have already done their time. And that I had no right to that information.

Funny, how they would give me, for publication, the names and addresses of 1,000's of Americans that have broken no laws, pose no threat the community, like Legal Gun Owners, with no regard for their Rights or Privacy.

But, would not give me a list of people already known to have no regard for the Public Safety or others' rights.

Funny world we are living in.

Maybe I'll see if they will give me a list of People that DO NOT have legal gun permits, so that I can publish it in the paper. That should be public information, right?

That's weird, my county will provide a list of convictions. They give it to the papers on a regular basis. You should try again.

edit: Obviously you're complaining about the idiot paper that printed the names of law abiding citizens who had legal guns registered - and rightly so. But, there is no basis to your claim that the government refused to give you a list of criminals who had been found guilty in an American court. That's silly.

I don't think they would give you a list of people who had gun permits 10 years ago, but not now. You are comparing information about one's past with information about one's present.
