The Mumbai Taj hotel attacks that killed 165 innocent people and held them hostage in the hotel. The issue is should we let these people go or should we hunt them down?
Or should we just let it slide and hope it doesn't happen again and take it as an misfortune?

The attacks are really terrible and many lives has been lost. But i would like to clarify something clearly. India follows the traditional saying "Athithi Devo Bhava" meaning guest is like god so there is no point in even thinking about stopping foreign guests from coming into India. As you all know employees of hotel Taj Mumbai have struggled and given their best to save the guests when terrorists attacked. this shows that we live by the motto. Many survivors have thanked the employees of Taj and Oberoi Trident.
Many lives have been taken including two NSG commandos they are martyrs and there are many unsung heroes. But there are no strong laws in India that can even bind terrorism to 50%. A live example is a Convicted terrorist who was the master mind behind the Indian Parliament attacks in 2001, his name is Afzal guru and the supreme court of India issued orders for him to be hanged in 2004 but his sentence has been stayed and the present ruling govt. has not took any step in carrying out the execution. In fact many security force officials lost their lives in saving the parliament and the politicians in the attack. What justice has been done to those martyrs? the master mind terrorist has not been executed yet and only after this November 2008 attack in mumbai is this govt. talking about hanging Afzal. when there are no strict act against terrorist in a country definitely terrorists will dare many attacks. As of now it is being said that there were previous warnings that sea mode attacks are possible in mumbai but no politician gave any orders for securing the ports and sea routes. Who is responsible for this? Just talking is what politicians can do they never act. Some resignations are not going to help. Never has been justice done to martyrs who loose lives due to terrorists.
Nsg commandos have not even been provided with technically advanced ammunitions and choppers.
The final point is even if the terrorists are hunted down will they be given severe punishment to justify the lives that have been lost or are they just going to pass their lives in jail with no regrets? Until and Unless a strong Law is in order against Terrorism like POTA all will go only in words debates whether even the terrorist can be arrested or not but in reality the terrorist will live peacefully in jail or will escape.
POTA - Prevention of Terrorism Act, 2002 has been removed in India in 2004. This act provides many powers and liberties to cops and intelligence to act against terrorist. Without such acts in practice how can we even imagine terrorism to be under check?

I'm sure the Indians will get to the bottom of it -- many Indians were killed, after all. As for banning Americans and British from Mumbai -- I doubt that would stop future attacks. Indians need to step up security in their country.

Should we let it slide? No. Should we go to war over it? No. But it was also my understanding that Mumbai has been a 'high alert' area for American travelers for a while. Doesn't matter, but one needs to be smart about where they are going. I mean.. I wouldn't book a trip to Iraq right now.

i think of Pakistan could punish india, by means of fact that india is in contact in interfering balauchistan. And india wanna see pakistan to destabilize... so who you think of furnish weapon to taliban and then those taliban beat the hell out of Pakistan with suicide assaults. Its india the mummy of all terrorism. they merely comprehend to kill innocents in kashmir and that they fund talibans and terrorists to destabilize balacuhistan, so pakistan could show india a lesson.

Yes they should.
Maybe burn them while they are falling 350 feet at 60 mph onto the ground with spikes.
