With 68% of americans in Favor of immigration reform, and 54% in favor of DADT repeal did the GOP just make a HUGE mistake by filibustering the Defense bill?

Immigrants Rights Groups Plan Mobilization Against Republicans
"Immigrants rights groups have made a major push for the DREAM Act, with rallies around the country and scores of calls to senators. Now that a Republican filibuster killed chances of the DREAM Act as part of the defense authorization bill, some immigration reform advocates plan to mobilize against candidates who opposed the DREAM Act to keep them out of office in November.
Fair Immigration Reform Movement partners said on a conference call today they plan to use the DREAM Act filibuster to campaign against Republican candidates.

“Yesterday’s vote was really unprecedented, and it effectively was a filibuster of immigration reform,” Rudy Lopez of Campaign for Community Change said. “That’s how the community sees it, and they’re not happy about it.”
The groups plan to canvass a number of states across the country — including Iowa, Nevada, Illinois, Colorado and Florida — to talk to voters about the need for immigration reform and encourage Latino voters to vote for progressive candidates.
“The position of Republicans on issues most dear to immigrants have gone from a disappointment to a disgrace,” said Joshua Hoyt, executive director of the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights.

The mobilization will include a media campaign, an online outreach effort and “hundreds of thousands” of live phone calls and mailers.

Republicans are hateful bigots. They are counting on their base of hateful bigots to lead them to electoral gains, and that's who they are catering to...

1. There would be no filibuster if Harry Reid (D - Nevada) wasn't acting like his usual sewer dwelling self by attaching the Dream Act to the defense bill. People are pissed off at Reid and his sneak thief tactics.

2. Don't Ask Don't Tell could have been repealed as Democrats have the House, Senate and the White House. Therefore, any problems with any legislation is because Democrats are gumming up the works.

Democrats are scared to death of losing their power this November so they are acting more Conservative in a vain attempt to save their scrawny necks. Too bad for them the America voters have woken up and have seen through this.

first off, the majority of Americans want a reform that enforces the laws on these people. And you better read up on the facts of why it did not pass. Senate Democrats Vote to Kill DREAM Act and defy Lady Gaga on "don't ask, don't tell" Once again, the Democrats have lied to Hispanics. They have promised Immigration Reform and have not delivered. They have promised the DREAM Act and have not delivered. They continue to make promises to pander to the Latino community but continue to fail to deliver. Democrats continue to blame Republicans for their failures but the truth is, these democrats voted to defeat the cloture motion, thus killing the DREAM Act. As early as last week, Senator Harry Reid and Dick Durbin doomed the DREAM Act to failure. How? They killed it by using a cheap political trick to tie the issue to the Defense Authorization Bill. They knew this would cause a hostile reaction from Republicans and even some Democrats in the Senate. No one wants to be forced into an issue with a gun to their head and that is exactly what Reid and Durbin tried to do with this trick. But the "trick" was really on the Hispanics who supported the DREAM Act. While some Democrats may blame the Republicans for the failure, the truth is that the Democrats did not stand together to get this bill passed. Only 55 Democrats voted for cloture. Senators Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.), Mark Pryor (D-Ark.) and yes, even Harry Reid (D-NV) voted to kill the cloture motion and, in effect, the bill. Had these three Democrats voted for cloture, it is quite possible that a moderate senator could have been convinced to cross over. But there is no way they were going to bring across enough votes to counter the Democrat no votes. Don't let the Democrats tell you Republicans killed this bill. Clearly Democrats wanted to use the DREAM Act as a ploy to once again deceive the Hispanic voters of this country.

You see you fail to realize that just because they are in favor of some kind of immigration reform it doesn't mean that 68% is in favor of the DREAM Act.

I want immigration reform how ever I don't want them giving illegals citizenship. SO would I vote that I'm for immigration reform YES I would. But that doesn't mean I support Obama immigration reform.

You also fail to realize a lot of people who can vote in those little political polls can't vote in elections.

I also don't support DADT reform. I feel it should be left up to the Military they are the ones who have to live with it. You see you don't realize that military has open showers in a lot of cases. Would you want a Gay person watching you take a shower? So what are you going to do require the Military to have "gay" bathrooms? That works out great on a Naval Ship that has no room to spare.

You again fail to see the big picture.

Their base is the most fanatical and pisssed off group in the country, hence their voice is louder than their numbers would suggest. And in democratic politics voice and motivation can sometimes (actually quite often do) win out over pure numbers.

87% of Marines are against repealing DADT and that number will be higher among officers and infantry MOS. Military makes their own rules, leave it to them. They don't follow the Constitution for the rules and serving is not a right, it is a privilege if they want you and you are qualified and meet their standards.

That 68% in favor of immigration reform is not all people who want amnesty. They are mainly people who want our borders secured before Any form of amnesty is even considered.

outraged at the Republicans, or, the few Dems that voted against it too? You can't support liberal left wing Obama agendas and want what is best for the USA too..you have to decide which is more important.
