Why should we care about Greta being made Person of the Year? It's not a conferral of sainthood. We might remember that Time Magazine has named some pretty dodgy (to put it mildly) people as Person of the Year: Adolf Hitler (1938), and Joseph Stalin (twice, in 1939 and 1942) are just two examples.

A 16-year-old triggering Republicans - she must be doing something right. She's even driving a 75-year-old President stupid.
Imagine that - she's got Trump, a pathological narcissist, jealous of her for getting on the cover of "Time." Trump had to make do with a fake one for most of his life.

1. She triggered Donald Trump. He whined on Twitter and kept yelling and complaining because of her. Anyone who triggers that guy deserves person of the year!
2. She showed how awful MANY Trump supporters can be. Threatening to harm 16 year old girls, that's a new low for them!
I disagree with Greta's views on climate change, but I absolutely praise her for the two reasons above!! Go Greta!!

Time is a liberal Fa9-rag no surprise here.

You’re right, they should have given it to one of Trumps supporters who have done nothing but huff and rant about 16 year old climate activists on yahoo answers.

Time stopped being a serious new magazine years ago. Now, it just a mouthpiece for Progressive Liberal causes. Greta is just a feel good expression of Liberals environmental agenda. Now for a kid her age, it's an achievement, so kudos for her. But, she in the larger picture is just symbolism. Nothing more.

Thanks for admitting you are much less intelligent than the Journalists at Time.

It appears that TIME has accepted the low standards of the NOBEL PEACE PRIZE, where one just has to be a "wanna be" rather than actually accomplishing anything.

First of all if that was all she did, she has done more then most members of Congress, and most of the world leaders. Most leaders have ignored the warning signs, of climate change for the last 75 yrs, and finally when the smart scientists scream how mad it is, and say we need to cut CO2 emissions by 20% 75 yrs ago, instead they doubled it. Then 25 yrs ago, scientist said because you doubled it, we now have to cut emissions by 75%, and instead world leaders cut 5%, and eventually cut the original 20% 20 yrs later. Now with Trump has cut bad to 5%, in most areas, and then added 10% more pollution. And because Trump and China who have refused to fix the problem, other world leaders who say they believe in Climate change, since Trump took office have barely stayed at the 20% fix they came to when Obama was President. And some have refused to add to the 20% cut like they planned to each year with Obama. Each year most world leaders were supposed to add another 5% CO2 cuts, but have not done so since Trump took office and back out of the Climate change agreement, other world leaders have back down also doing what they agreed to with Obama. Since Greta, spoke out in anger and frustration about the do nothing world leaders about climate change, most have started to do what they agreed to do, 3 yrs ago. So I would say she deserves it.

If you had bothered to listen to her, she said that we should be listening to what the scientists are saying. She's right.

Yes it does this year
2019-12-13 15:28:48 UTC
It doesn't but, remember, climate change always happens. People on earth or Not. We cant "change " anything. Global warming is a myth, a 12 year cycle of scares. Years ago, it was acid rain.
Edit: True, Good to be concerned about environment, but Realistically.

World leaders, not Thunberg, have the solutions in their gift. Thunberg's role, which she performs very eloquently and passionately, is to berate them on behalf of those people, particularly young people like herself, who are and will be affected by climate change for their inactivity. She deserves the award of 'Person of the Year' for triggering reactionary people like the septuagenarian Trump who will be dead when climate change really takes hold.

For people who claim all mainstream media is fake news, conservatives are awfully triggered by who Time picks as their Person of the Year.
2019-12-12 21:10:25 UTC
The solutions already exist, what we need is someone to huff and rant at politicians to get it done
2019-12-12 21:08:48 UTC
Lol. Don't sweat it. That award is so meaningless. When's the last 'time' you actually read Time magazine?
2019-12-12 21:08:12 UTC
She didn't nearly huff and rant as much as that orange idiot in the white house

Well, they also gave it to Barack Obama for being black, me for having an internet connection, computers, and the Earth.

Time put it out for a vote, and she didn't even win, yet they still gave her the title and slapped her upon the cover. I wonder why the left isn't up in arms about that bit.

meanwhile, nobody's heard of this other kid who is actually making a difference.

It's weird but Time can do whatever it wants. Maybe they think putting a 16 year old on their cover will get people to take climate change more seriously out of pity? Well, for me it discredits climate change even more to. They should put an expert on it to persuade readers but I guess they were trying to emotionally connect with readers rather than appeal to logic.

Greta is doing a fantastic job of waking people up to the problem that is being denied or ignored by most. The scientists have been saying this for years, but Greta says it better.
The solution is obvious, and all world leaders know it, apart from Trump, who lives in his own world. They need to cut down on carbon emissions.
She is perfect for person of the year.
2019-12-12 21:11:24 UTC
She is only publicising the issue. It is for countries around the world to decide on solutions.

Hitler was once person of the year, that should make you happy
